Along with the steering wheel, the steering column has a lever for the throttle and a button for the 1923 Ford Model T’s horn. Although it’s the deluxe model, the car doesn’t have simple amenities that all cars have now. Missing are the seat belts, speedometer, odometer and electric windshield wipers. The single windshield wiper is moved manually by the driver. “You can see how that would be tough while steering,” said owner Ryk Bullock. (The Bedford Bulletin/Kevin Shalvey)

Ryk Bullock sits in the the wooden-framed 1923 Ford Model T that he originally bought for his father. The car, his “toy,” is for cruising around. The car evokes different responses from each generation. “When you see some older people, you can see the look in their eye, because you know their remembering,” Bullock said of riding around town in the car. Ryk Bullock's 1923 Ford Model T. Under the hood is a four-cylinder original engine. Outside, the car is equipped with kerosene lamps at the bottom corners of the front window and electric headlights.
