A Weare man allegedly fired a single shot into an acquaintance’s chest during an altercation on Tuesday, June 19.
J.T. Hebbeln, 56, of 30 Merrill Road, was shot in front of his home and brought to Concord Hospital.
Hebbeln was in stable condition as of late Tuesday night, said Weare Deputy Chief Bill Quigley.
The alleged gunman, Tom Lagerbloom, 58, was arrested at the scene after the shooting, at about 1:13 p.m, police said.
Lagerbloom, who allegedly stole the .32-caliber semiautomatic handgun from his parents’ house, is charged with attempted homicide, theft of a firearm and criminal threatening. He is being held on $1 million cash bail.
Quigley said the two men knew each other.
“Acquaintances, I wouldn’t say they were friends. They’ve had issues over the past couple of months,” he said.
The two men had had confrontations, but no physical violence between them in the past, Quigley said.
On Tuesday, Lagerbloom apparently entered the property on Merrill Road to retrieve his tools, Quigley said.
“From what we can gather, he went to the property to retrieve some tools from a garage. The victim was in the garage when he arrived,” said Quigley.
