Weare’s tax rate for 2006 has been set, with bills to be sent out soon and due by Dec. 27.
This year’s rate has been set at $16.05 per $1,000 of assessed value, which will produce a bill of $4,012.50 for a home valued at $250,000.
The new tax rate reflects a town portion of $2.76, a school tax rate of $10.28, a state portion of $2.09, and 92 cents for county taxes, said Tax Collector Diane Lamb.
Auditors from the Department of Revenue Administration reviewed tax projections with the town’s assessing and tax departments on Nov. 17 and confirmed the new rate on Nov. 21, Lamb said.
The town is sending out 4,635 bills to residential and commercial property owners this year, Lamb said.
This year’s tax rate will likely reflect an equalization ratio of 100 percent, while the equalization ratio for 2005 was 49.2 percent, Lamb said.
Last year’s tax rate amounted to $28.96 per $1,000 of assessed value, with the town portion accounting for $4.02, schools at $18.57, state at $4.43, and a county portion of $1.94.
The new rates result from a complete revaluation of all properties in town, said Administrative Secretary to the Assessor’s Office Judy Rogers.
The town recently completed a three-year revaluation process, conducted by the assessing firm of Avitar Associates and finished in the summer this year.
