If you missed
last week’s Field of Dreams
cleanup, relax knowing that
spring cleaning is a week
late this year.
Plans for the annual
cleanup of the Field of
Dreams park on Saturday,
April 5, were postponed another
week due to the prolonged
winter and lingering
wet weather, according to
Ross Trecartin, president of
the Field of Dreams board
of directors.
“We still have snow on
the ground and a lot of puddles,
and there’s a lot of rain
forecasted throughout the
weekend,” he said.
Anyone interested in
participating in the cleanup
at the Geremonty Drive park
in Salem is encouraged to
show up on Saturday, April
12, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Bringing your own rakes,
tarps, gloves and leaf-blowers is
appreciated, and lunch will be
offered free to those who help
out.
Since Field of Dreams is a
community park supported by a
nonprofit group, Trecartin said
spring and fall cleanups held
each year with volunteer support
are vital for its opening.
Trecartin said this year’s
summer concert series has already
found a few sponsors,
and park organizers hope to incorporate
a Fourth of July event
to coincide with the planned
high school fireworks.
