Missing a python? – Snake found in resident’s yard

BY DARRELL HALEN

Pelham police are hoping to reunite a python that slithered into a local couple’s backyard with its owner.

The 2-foot long male ball python was sunning itself on a piece of plywood when it was discovered by a couple who lives on Leonard Drive.

“It’s definitely not indigenous to New England,” said Sgt. Michael Pickles.

The snake was discovered on Saturday, June 2. The couple put a pail over the snake and reported its discovery.

When officers arrived, they flipped over the pail and trapped the animal in a pillow case, Pickles said.

The snake is now in a professional’s hands, but Pickles declined to say where it’s being kept.

Who owns the snake is a mystery. If the owner isn’t found, Pickles said, he wants to find a good home for it.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 635-2411.
