A former Pelham police officer is awaiting trial on a second domestic assault charge.
Timothy D. Vincent, the town’s former animal control officer, is accused of pushing his wife, Cheryl, against a door with his left arm on Dec. 17 at their Raymond home.
Vincent, 45, is scheduled to be tried on the simple assault charge in Auburn District Court on March 16.
Vincent, who had served as a full-time animal control officer and part-time police officer, resigned from all positions with the Pelham Police Department on Friday, Jan. 13, according to Capt.
Joseph Roark.
Roark said that Vincent, who had been on paid leave since Dec. 18, did not state a reason why he quit.
“It was a one-line resignation,” said Roark, adding that he does not know if Vincent’s decision to step down is related to charges that have been made against him.
Cheryl Vincent told a Raymond police officer that Vincent, who is living in Sandown, came to their house on Dec. 17 to pick up their son.
When she went to get their son, her husband allegedly pushed her against a door and demanded “give me my son now,” according to her account described in a police affidavit.
Vincent was convicted on Jan. 5 in Auburn District Court of grabbing his wife’s arms in their home on Sept. 24, 2006.
He was ordered to pay a $50 penalty assessment and a $500 fine, half of which was suspended for 12 months provided he is not charged with any misdemeanor or felony charges, according to court documents.
Vincent worked for Pelham since 1990 and was previously employed by Textron Defense Systems for 10 years, according to court papers.
Efforts to reach Vincent were unsuccessful.
