"I always get blamed for what I do" D. T. Menace

  • see the revenue flow

the New Hampshire House has voted and to take a 3.7 million dollar bribe I is now official we in the Granite state are too stupid to decide for ourselves weather to buckle up or not.  If passed in the senate we will join 25 other states that think their residents are stupid and deserve to be ticketed as a primary offense for not buckling up.

While not buckling up is dumb I imagine we will need the law for all the accidents caused by rubber-necking

    Let freedom ring
  • more construction

Beside the mill project the much delayed Lowe's project is showing some activity.  A crew was working in the snow and mud at the site Monday.  Too bad the deck at Scoop City is closed for the season.  This project is set to relly rock and roll come spring.

Meanwhile work continues on the mill Project  you can get a good view from the lot of the Visitors Center on North Street.  Both the mill project and sawtooth construction can be viewed from this location.  Remember the Visitor Center is open 8:30 to 5:00 Monday thru Friday.  Just want the sawtooth check it out from the Stone Arch Bakery.

  • black bears

Ben Kilham will be at the Fiske Free Library Thursday Dec 11 at 7:00 with his slideshow on  black bears.  Kilham is an independent wildlife biologist from Lyme NH.  He will talk about his work with the bears where he raises them like their mother and releases them back into the wild.
  • sawtooth construction

There maybe a dusting of snow on the ground and that ground maybe frozen but construction goes on in Claremont.

A thirty yard section of Main Street between the Stone Arch Bakery and Leo's Market will be closed for about six weeks while the prefab part to the Sawtooth garage are put into place.

You can sit in the bakery have a cup of coffee and a donut not imported from Massachusetts while you watch.  First things first they have to bring in a crane to put together the carne that will put the garage together.

Just around the corner on Water Street the Mill project is moving along a source tells me that about half a million dollars of windows will be going into the three mills.

You can walk down by the site of the Mill being turned into a Common Man Restaurant, walk over the bridge to the City Office Building on North Street (aka Visitor Center).  I could direct you to it but after six years we finally have singage approved and on the way.

  • what to do

    What to do

When it came time to lead both major candidates chose to sit on their hands. The vast majority of American did not want the Billionaire Buddy Bailout. Where are the memorable quotes from the two at the time of crisis?

    What to do?

Sit on my hands like those who are trying to tell us how they can lead or join the majority of Americans and watch Dancing with the Stars. Yes again this year 60% of Americans will not vote. Again this year the president will receive the nod from only about 30% of Americans of voting age.

Is this due to the perceived lack of choice?

Did you know there are six candidates running for president with their names on the ballots in enough states to win the election?

Why doesn’t the media let us know?

  • long long ago

    Long long ago

Or at least it seamed that way. November 2007 the campaigners came to New Hampshire. The Primary is coming, the Primary is coming they cried. Vote for my guy, vote for my guy they did cry. Even if sometimes the guy was a girl.

To do my duty with so many names what was I to do. Many people where more than happy to direct me to sites to survey my views and line me up with a candidate.

I went to several and not to my surprise a guy I had voted for before was at the top of the heap. 65% agreement with Ron Paul, at last I could vote in a major party primary with conviction.

The dust has cleared the vote is near. If I listen to the media I have two choices the guy I agreed with 34% of the time or the guy I disagreed with 67% of the time.

So search of a site I did. I found one but can’t pass it on because now they want a cell phone number to take their poll. Paul still number one but he is out. McCain wouldn’t even let him talk at the convention. One guy number 16 the other 26 of all the people that announced and ran.

Oh but look at number 2 the Libertarian Bob Barr.

Yes you do have a choice there are six people running for president with their names on the ballot in enough states to win the electoral vote.

Why does the media ignore real choices?

To vote Libertarian or join the majority of Americans and stay at home on Election Day?

  • forum

clearly the democrates and republicans have all the answers that is why libretarians have been left of the list of participants at the up coming political forum.  Notice how it isn't called a debate.  when your ideas miror then there is no real debate just show up and get your taling points in.
  • save the bankers

Looks like congress is going to help their buddies.  You Know the guys that think it is fair to charge 39.99 percent intrest if you are a day  late with a payment.  Will Jump your intrest rate if some one you have issue with someone else that gives you a bad report.

Lets give them a trillion dollar loan.  They can pat themselves on the back and get a big bonus.  The small business owner goes out if he makes bad decisions.  The rich get richer.

Nice to live in the world of the powerful where you are not responsible for what you do.  You can hear it now.  they made me give them the sub prime loan.  Its not my fault because everybody was doning it.  I'm to big for you to let me fail.

Will congress have the guts to stop the bleeding.  Make the Banker take it like a man.  How about taking the houses of the fat cats who's companies gave the loans to those that could not afford it and will lose all.

  • Christian Iconography

  • politics is our entertainment

The canidates Keep coming to town guys and gals that wont think of us for four more years

The Center for Desease  Prevention has come out with some interesting numbers.  They must be true I read it in the Eagle Times.  Accourding to the CDP americans could lode 4 billiion pounds by parking their cars and waddling through the parking lot and into the store.

Imagaine the emergy saved by not hauling around 4 billion pounda of fat

Now how about that drive through tax

  • Drive thru tax

thers is a new potetial revenue stream for the state of New Hampshire a drive thru tax.

As I was standing in line at Dunkies the other day it dawned on me.  The drive thru line smaked around the building and out on to Wasnington street.  Why not a drive thru fee.  50cents per order.

I suggest this for three reasons.  First it will get some of us off our fat duffs, out of the car and into the fresh air.  Imagine the calories waddled off on the stroll into the coffe shop, bank, resturant Pharmacy etc.

Second by shutting off the car it will save energy.  Yes if you have to idle more than thirty seconds it saves fuel to shut the car off and turn it back on.  Get ecersise and save money.

third revenue first for the state but how about 10 cents of it going to the host community.

Id it the trans fat or the we are fat.  Get in line say hi to your neighbor

  • the Duck is gone

The Duck is gone.  I always thought it might happen, but after standing guard across from our driveway the for 24 years I thought the Duck mailbox would stand forever, but now it is gone.
Someone who thought they needed it more than me took the Duck early Wednesday morning.  My wife saw the car when she left for work but thought it was the newspaper delivery guy, but the paper was late that morning.  All that is left is the post and two bent nails.
Please note the home made head is of a different thickness and coloration than the factory made feet and wings.  The head was homemade hand painted and made after someone thought it a substitute for a baseball 4-5 years ago.
This isn't the first Duck mailbox we have had.  The original sits retired in the shed after about a dozen years of exposure to the weather and being rearranged by the snow plow back when we had real winters.
Now it is gone. Drivers looking for Windy Hill Road be advised your are on your own the landmark is gone.
Any mother, wife or lover should be proud of her intrepid hunter bring home the Duck.
Anyone finding the Duck just drop it off at the end of the driveway at 268 Paddy Hollow Road here in Claremont, no questions asked.
