"I always get blamed for what I do" D. T. Menace

  • politics is our entertainment

The canidates Keep coming to town guys and gals that wont think of us for four more years

The Center for Desease  Prevention has come out with some interesting numbers.  They must be true I read it in the Eagle Times.  Accourding to the CDP americans could lode 4 billiion pounds by parking their cars and waddling through the parking lot and into the store.

Imagaine the emergy saved by not hauling around 4 billion pounda of fat

Now how about that drive through tax

  • Drive thru tax

thers is a new potetial revenue stream for the state of New Hampshire a drive thru tax.

As I was standing in line at Dunkies the other day it dawned on me.  The drive thru line smaked around the building and out on to Wasnington street.  Why not a drive thru fee.  50cents per order.

I suggest this for three reasons.  First it will get some of us off our fat duffs, out of the car and into the fresh air.  Imagine the calories waddled off on the stroll into the coffe shop, bank, resturant Pharmacy etc.

Second by shutting off the car it will save energy.  Yes if you have to idle more than thirty seconds it saves fuel to shut the car off and turn it back on.  Get ecersise and save money.

third revenue first for the state but how about 10 cents of it going to the host community.

Id it the trans fat or the we are fat.  Get in line say hi to your neighbor

  • the Duck is gone

The Duck is gone.  I always thought it might happen, but after standing guard across from our driveway the for 24 years I thought the Duck mailbox would stand forever, but now it is gone.
Someone who thought they needed it more than me took the Duck early Wednesday morning.  My wife saw the car when she left for work but thought it was the newspaper delivery guy, but the paper was late that morning.  All that is left is the post and two bent nails.
Please note the home made head is of a different thickness and coloration than the factory made feet and wings.  The head was homemade hand painted and made after someone thought it a substitute for a baseball 4-5 years ago.
This isn't the first Duck mailbox we have had.  The original sits retired in the shed after about a dozen years of exposure to the weather and being rearranged by the snow plow back when we had real winters.
Now it is gone. Drivers looking for Windy Hill Road be advised your are on your own the landmark is gone.
Any mother, wife or lover should be proud of her intrepid hunter bring home the Duck.
Anyone finding the Duck just drop it off at the end of the driveway at 268 Paddy Hollow Road here in Claremont, no questions asked.

  • Thanx fed ex

Wednesday a customer came into the store and needed something for a weekend project.  I called down to the supplier paid for the goods and shipping.  Today came and Fed ex, fed ex ground, ups and usps all came into the store and went.  I called my supplier where is the goods I asked.

Shipped Fed ex said suplier here are the tracking numbers (more than one package)  They are in Lebanon for delivery Monday.  Monday and only 15 miles up the road there must be something wrong.

I call Fed ex talk to the wonderful machine (doesn't that always make you feel important), before I got to customer service.

Yes its in Lebanon, yes you wont get it until Monday,  The shipper paid for three day delivery and thats what you'll get.  No you cant go and pick it up early.

       Thanx for using Fed ex.

  • use more gas

That free federal money sure does come with strings attached.

New linage for parking spaces has done away with parking.  There used to be two spaces in front of the Fiske Free Library now ther is one.  The spaces are laso further back from the cross walks.  Less parking more driving.  But maybe more walking.

There used to be right turn lanes at Drapers corners first the one from the north dissapeared with the new linage, Now the North has lost its turn lane.  Remember when the Know it all Federal government made all the states have a right on red to save gas.  Well now with no turn lanes  we can waiste $100 per barrel gas.

If the newly designed intersection of Broad and Water streets is the worst of its class (number of accidents per amount of traffic) why are they paving (filling in ) around the traffic island.  Is it so skateboarders heading to the proposed skate park can have a jump.  there is no cross walk but it could be for handicap accessability?

  • Brown's trifecta

    no federal tax

    no state tax

    no property tax

Seams the Brown's have a clean sweep, they can find a reason not to pay any tax.

  • Thanks Jim

Jim Neilsen has resigned from the city council, after nine years ans a couple of stintz as Mayor

Jim wont say why just that it is family matters, thats good enough for me

     Thanks Jim

  • no tax increase

City manager Guy Ssntagate announced at the counsel meeting last night and attempt to hold taxes level on the city side of the budget.

Some counselors weren't too happy.  Let me try to explain from a tax payers point of view.  If the cost of living goes up then reapprasiles, new construction should increase the tax base.  Tax base times rate should show an increase of money avalible for the city to spend.  You don't need to raise the rate every year.  A three percent increase every year wold lead to a doubling of the rate every 24 years.  After twenty plus years in my current home I pay as much for taxes as I did PIT when I bought the place.  The rate has gone up  a third and value more than tripled.

Maybe its time we held the line
