Where is that rebate check?</title><link>http://cs.newhampshire.com/blogs/live_free_and_blog/archive/2008/03/18/My-computer-is-sick.--Where-is-that-rebate-check_3F00_.aspx</link><pubDate>Tue, 18 Mar 2008 18:33:00 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">7b375189-dcc7-4af7-b4d3-2fc751a0220e:7593</guid><dc:creator>NHLife</dc:creator><slash:comments>1</slash:comments><comments>http://cs.newhampshire.com/blogs/live_free_and_blog/comments/7593.aspx</comments><wfw:commentRss>http://cs.newhampshire.com/blogs/live_free_and_blog/commentrss.aspx?PostID=7593</wfw:commentRss><description>&lt;p&gt;Never mind that I spent the last three days frustrated with the entire internet and all of its spyware, viruses, pop-ups, sneaky advertisements and the like.&amp;nbsp; No, I spent the last three days attempting&amp;nbsp;unsuccessfully to&amp;nbsp;remove an infection from my cheap laptop (that I happened to adore).&amp;nbsp; Now&amp;nbsp;I have&amp;nbsp;visions of &amp;quot;your computer is infected&amp;quot; dancing in my head.&amp;nbsp; Thanks,&amp;nbsp;WinReanimator (Warning:&amp;nbsp; do not go to their website or download this software).&amp;nbsp; And many thanks to all of those useless, too-much-time-on-their-hands, (um, is &amp;quot;people&amp;quot; the right word to use here?)&amp;nbsp;that feel compelled to infect the world with their pestilence.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;There, I feel better.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Hours and hours and hours of copying files, removing bugs, rebooting and&amp;nbsp;loading my nearly-new (but&amp;nbsp;freshly rebuilt&amp;nbsp;and&amp;nbsp;clean) laptop computer with all of my files and software (and I&amp;#39;m not done yet, folks!) and I still don&amp;#39;t have any&amp;nbsp;idea how to remove the&amp;nbsp;darn&amp;nbsp;&amp;quot;malicious trojan spyware&amp;quot;.&amp;nbsp; And I tried.&amp;nbsp; I knew there was a problem when my computer rebooted itself for no apparent reason.&amp;nbsp; I knew when that vicious &amp;quot;you are infected&amp;quot;&amp;nbsp;message popped up.&amp;nbsp; And I knew not to &amp;quot;click here&amp;quot; to fix it.&amp;nbsp; No matter, I was infected and there seems to be no cure.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Oh, it was an &lt;em&gt;exciting &lt;/em&gt;weekend.&amp;nbsp; I hardly ate or slept.&amp;nbsp; I also melted down, sobbing,&amp;nbsp;and called my&amp;nbsp;genius brother whose advice was, &amp;quot;I&amp;nbsp;had a virus&amp;nbsp;recently that resulted&amp;nbsp;in an entire wipe of my computer.&amp;quot;&amp;nbsp; Great.&amp;nbsp; I &lt;em&gt;would&lt;/em&gt; wipe my computer but there&amp;#39;s only&amp;nbsp;one problem.&amp;nbsp; I don&amp;#39;t have a working CD&amp;nbsp;Rom&amp;nbsp;on that charming little&amp;nbsp;laptop that I so&amp;nbsp;adore.&amp;nbsp; Nope, that&amp;nbsp;broke right around the time the warranty expired,&amp;nbsp;naturally.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It appears that I will be using my &amp;quot;Economic Surplus&amp;quot;&amp;nbsp;rebate from the government to actually help stimulate the economy.&amp;nbsp; But only because my computer is broken.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="http://cs.newhampshire.com/aggbug.aspx?PostID=7593" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description><category domain="http://cs.newhampshire.com/blogs/live_free_and_blog/archive/tags/Rebate+check/default.aspx">Rebate check</category><category domain="http://cs.newhampshire.com/blogs/live_free_and_blog/archive/tags/trojan+software/default.aspx">trojan software</category><category domain="http://cs.newhampshire.com/blogs/live_free_and_blog/archive/tags/winreanimator/default.aspx">winreanimator</category><category domain="http://cs.newhampshire.com/blogs/live_free_and_blog/archive/tags/broken+computer/default.aspx">broken computer</category><category domain="http://cs.newhampshire.com/blogs/live_free_and_blog/archive/tags/virus/default.aspx">virus</category></item></channel></rss>
