Let it snow

It's always nice to have a bit of snow on the ground at this time of year.  I'm not one for long cold winters full of ice storms, wind chill factors and snow banks that you actually have to climb.  But if you've ever been south of Virginia during the holidays, then you know what it's like to go without snow for Christmas.

Now I realize there have been years that we've gone without snow too.  But the beautiful blanket that covers the ground during winter is what helps to complete the picture of Christmas.

I could do without the gloves and hats, the static cling and clunky boots.  But I like to snuggle up in front of a warm fire, hot chocolate in hand, while the snowflakes fall gently to the ground outdoors.

Let's face it; we live in a winter wonderland.  Don't get so caught up in the misery of a chilly drawn out winter that you miss out on the beauty of it all.

I couldn't agree with you more. When I was growing up my parents would take us to Florida for the winter months. Waking up on Christmas morning to green grass and 80° weather just dilutes the holiday feeling. Although I too could go without the 30 mile-an-hour winds and slipping and sliding on all the ice there is something magical about a White Christmas. Everything looking clean and bright while shopping for the holidays. One of my most romantic memories is of ice skating at one of the White Mountain Inns while the snow was falling down around us. We took a rest in front of a beautiful bomb fire and enjoy some hot chocolate. It was so beautiful with all the white lights decorating the trees. NH has the most amazing seasons.

Yikes, Bobi! That "bomb fire" must have been pretty hot.
