Hopkinton has named the its interim replacement for Ed Wojnowski, who will leave his duties as town administrator as of Friday, Aug. 24.
Robert Veloski will take over the position as of Monday, Aug. 27.
Selectman Donald Lane said Veloski, who was suggested to the Board of Selectmen by Management Resources Inc., comes to the table as a veteran to the town government system.
“He has a lot of financial experience, which he needs because he is coming in at a sensitive time when we’re working on the budget,” he said. “He is someone who knows a lot about how the budget process works. It isn’t easy working with all of the groups he will be working with, but he is uniquely qualified.”
As an interim, Veloski will be paid on a weekly basis and receive some benefits, although not the full package.
Veloski, who previously worked as an administrator in Tilton and Bristol, has worked for the state for about 20 years according to Lane.
Lane also said the board members will begin looking for a full-time town administrator around the first of the year, and Veloski may be a candidate for the job.
