The 10th annual Hopkinton Rotary Scholarship Golf Tournament took place June 7 at Sunapee Country Club.  More than 100 golfers and 80 sponsors helped the Hopkinton Rotary Club raise $16,000 for college scholarships for Hopkinton area high school graduates in 2008. The TDS Telecom team took top honors, winning the tournament.

In 2007, $10,000 was awarded to 14 high school seniors, all graduates of Hopkinton High School.

This year’s tournament was led by William Chapin Jr. of AG Edwards and Sons.  

“It was a great day because of our sponsors, golfers and volunteers,” said Chapin. “I am especially grateful to Tracy Banks Saab for being our lead sponsor with its underwriting of a $2,000 scholarship.”  

Other major sponsors were RBC Dain Rauscher, Lovering Volvo, The Grappone Companies and Merrimack Savings Bank.

The Hopkinton Rotary is a service organization, and its 41 members are involved in a number of projects that serve the local community. The club is part of Rotary International, an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
