David SuitorDo you have some musical talent and want to try it out on the public? Got a free Sunday afternoon? Stop at Robie’s Country Store and Deli in Hooksett on a Sunday afternoon and take the “stage” in an open mike session. Dave and Debra Chouinard, the proprietors of Robie’s for the last four years, host these sessions free of charge for young singers and musicians.
The weekly open mikes at Robie’s are the brainchild of local guitarist and singer Mike Themelis. Looking for a way to give back (a better term might be “give forward”) to the music community that helped him progress as an artist, Themelis organizes and conducts the Sunday sessions.
The open mikes started last winter and continue on Sundays at 1 p.m. until school is out.
All young singers and acoustic musicians are welcome to take part. Young people can get some experience and develop stage skills in a nonthreatening environment, all for free.
Contact Mike at sittin in@comcast.net to save a place, or stop by at 1 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon.
