Kiwanis hosts second annual car show

Ray and Diane Snell won the People’s Choice Award with their 1970 Oldsmobille 442. - Courtesy PhotoThe Kiwanis Club of Hooksett held its second annual car show at Donati Field on Sunday, Aug. 17. The 120 registered vehicles far exceeded last year’s inaugural event.

Among the 16 classes there were antique cars, Corvettes, muscle cars, street rods, Mustangs, trucks, customs and a number of additional vehicles spanning the 1950s through the 1980s.

On a rare perfect summer day, a large crowd of spectators enjoyed viewing the brightly colored sparkling vehicles. Great food and a large number of raffle prizes added excitement to the event. Kiwanis co-chairmen Dale Hemeon and Carl Hebert were thrilled with the weather, the cars and the overall family atmosphere of the day.

Winning the coveted “People’s Choice” award was a 1970 Oldsmobile 442 convertible owned by Ray and Diane Snell. Although the Snells have owned the car for several years, they did not begin restoring the blue beauty until three years ago. Needless to say, they are very proud of their efforts. The Snells’ Olds also won first place in the 1970s class.

Proceeds from the show will be used for the community trails and children’s programs in Hooksett. Those wanting to learn more about Hooksett Kiwanis may visit the club’s Web site at hooksettkiwanis.org
