After an anxious crowd waited for two hours at the Hooksett
Public Library, Brady Sullivan Properties failed to meet an appointment
with the Hooksett Zoning Board regarding the Mount Saint Mary’s
condominium proposal.
Zoning board member David Boutin described the Tuesday, Oct.
10, no-show as the latest in a series of actions by the real estate
developer that demonstrate disrespect to the board, the town and
abutters of a condominium building proposed for land behind the Route 3
Mount Saint Mary’s building.
Boutin’s remarks, preceding his unanimously passing motion to
deny Brady Sullivan a variance from the town’s zoning regulations,
garnered applause from a host of angry condominium owners attending the
meeting.
“They’re ‘Shady Sullivan,’ not Brady Sullivan,” said Sarah
Foster, who owns a Mount Saint Mary’s condominium. “They’re trying to
wear us down so they can build whatever they want.”
Brady Sullivan converted Mount Saint Mary’s apartments to
condominiums last year, and this summer proposed building a 73-unit
condominium building behind the current structure. Their request to the
zoning board was for a variance from the town’s zoning rule limiting
the number of residential units per building to 12.
Boutin said Brady Sullivan failed to satisfy any of the
requests the board made of the developer last month, including a
meeting with the town’s technical review committee and a study on how
the proposed building would affect nearby property values.
The board voted to deny the variance “without prejudice.”
“If they want to start over again, God bless ’em,” Boutin said.
Current Mount Saint Mary’s owners said they’ve been repeatedly
betrayed by Brady Sullivan, and several people said the Mount Saint
Mary’s board of directors is now guilty of betrayal.
No members of the condominium board of directors, who sources
said are appointed by Brady Sullivan, showed to the recent hearing.
Condo owners Allen and Kris Barriere said they’ve often been
frustrated dealing with Brady Sullivan since closing on a Mount Saint
Mary’s condo last November.
“They told people the expansion was going to be way in the back, not right behind our building,” said Kris.
Said Allen, “Brady Sullivan has been pretty deceitful all along.”
