Coby's Second Career Pole Comes at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for New England 100

Milford, Conn.'s Doug Coby drove his No. 19 Major Motion Transport/Family Auto Center Chevrolet to the pole position for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour New England 100.

Coby earned his second career pole with a lap time of 30.003 seconds and a top speed of 126.947 mph.

"I just drove it hard," said Coby. "I've learned from the time trials here at Loudon that you just have to drive it hard, trust the tires and trust the car."

Todd Szegedy, of Ridgefield, Conn., was second with a lap time of 30.005 seconds. He posted a top speed of 126.939 mph driving the No. 2 UNOH/Wisk/Snuggle Ford.

Veteran Ted Christopher, of Plainville, Conn., was the third-fastest qualifier. The driver of the No. 36 Al-Lee Installations Chevrolet turned in a lap time of 30.025 seconds and a top speed of 126.854 mph.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Ryan Newman and Kasey Kahne also qualified for the New England 100. Newman, in the No. 7 Aggressive Hydraulics Chevrolet qualified sixth, while Kahne qualified his No. 96 Mowhawk Northeast/New England Race Fuels Chevrolet in 17th.

LENOX Industrial Tools Honoring 10 EXTRA-MILE HEROES Finalists at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

As much as $1 Million could be on the line when the 10 finalists of the LENOX Industrial Tools EXTRA-MILE HEROES Contest visit New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday, June 28.

As a part of their prize packages, the 10 finalists will be attending the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series LENOX Industrial Tools 301 race. Each of the 10 finalists will also receive $3,100, and an additional $3,100 to the charity of their choice. The grand prize winner is guaranteed $31,000, and an additional $31,000 to his charity.

However, if the No. 31 LENOX Industrial Tools Chevrolet of Jeff Burton wins Sunday's race, the grand prize will grow to $1,000,000, to be split equally between the winner and their charity.

"It's been a neat program," said Jeff Burton. "All of the entries that have come in have just been phenomenal stories."

On Thursday, June 25, "Fan Fest" at New Hampshire Motor Speedway will feature free grandstand admission for NASCAR Camping World Series East Series and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour qualifying, as well as a great evening of free entertainment.

One of the big highlights at "Fan Fest" will be an interview session with NASCAR Sprint Cup star Kasey Kahne, driver of the No. 9 Budweiser Dodge. Greg Kretschmar, host of Greg and the Morning Buzz, and Jamie Staton, Sports Director at WMUR/ABC 9, will host this fan forum.

Performing live throughout the night will be up-and-coming country-rock band Jonathan Scott and the Blazing Hearts. North American County Music Association, International's 2007 "Band of the Year" in new country music. The group from Jaffrey, N.H. features frontman Jonathan Scott. Scott is the NACMAI's 2007 "Male Vocalist of the Year" and "Male Entertainer of the Year."

Three Dog Night, "Transaurus" and F-16's Provide Pre-Race Entertainment Punch for LENOX Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Legendary Grammy-nominated band Three Dog Night; the car-eating, fire-breathing mechanical dinosaur "Transaurus;" and a fly-over featuring F-16 fighter jets highlight pre-race entertainment for the LENOX Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday, June 28.

Three Dog Night will take the stage at the start/finish line at 12:30 p.m. for a 45 minute performance. Entering their fourth decade, the music icons hold some impressive industry statistics. From 1969 through 1974, the band had 21 consecutive Top-40 hits and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs. Their latest album, released in 2004, is a collection of hit singles.

At 1:15 p.m., attention will turn to "Transaurus." A car will be cut in half by the famous "Hackman" using LENOX Industrial Tools and eaten by the metal marvel. All of this leads up to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series LENOX Industrial Tools 301 at 2:15 p.m.

Powered by a jet engine and mounted on a military track vehicle, the metal replica of a Tyrannosaurus Rex stands 35 feet tall, 51 feet in length, and weighs close to 80,000 lbs. "Transaurus" performs at numerous venues and has been featured on TV, lifting cars and shooting 15-foot flames. It will arrive at the speedway on Thursday, June 25, for shows throughout the weekend.

In recognition of its EXTRA MILE HEROES Contest, LENOX Industrial Tools is teaming up with New Hampshire Governor John Lynch and the State to honor the everyday heroes of New Hampshire.

LENOX Industrial Tools and Gov. Lynch have invited members of the state police, local police and fire departments, and the National Guard, along with up to four members of their respective families, to attend the largest sporting event in New England, the LENOX Industrial Tools 301, on Sunday, June 28 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. A limited number of grandstand tickets, made available from a section of seating speedway officials earmarked for a charitable partnership, are being offered on a first-come basis to their respective departments for free. The donation was made as an extension of the LENOX EXTRA MILE HEROES program which began with last year's LENOX Industrial Tools 301, adding an extra lap to recognize those who go the EXTRA MILE in their community.

Hundreds of Vehicles Scheduled to Compete During the Vintage Racing Celebration at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Classic Car Show, Car Corral, and Flea Market Highlight the Weekend Schedule

Hundreds of vintage race cars and motorcycles, along with a classic car show and an automotive flea market and car corral, highlight the 19th Annual Vintage Racing Celebration and Classic Car Show at New Hampshire Motor Speedway from Tuesday, May 12 through Sunday, May 17.

Regarded as one of the top vintage racing events in the country, the celebration features three days of oval racing on the 1.058-mile speedway, and three days of road racing on the historic 1.6-mile road course.

On Tuesday, May 12 through Thursday, May 14, some of the most famous Midgets, Sprint Cars, Champ Cars, Roadsters, and NASCAR stock cars will fill the speedway's 1.058 mile oval.

From Friday, May 15 to Sunday, May 17, the 1.6 mile road course at NHMS will challenge veteran competitors from the world of road racing in both sports cars and motorcycles.

The added attractions to this year's event are the return of the classic car show, and the addition of an automotive-related flea market and car corral on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17. Vehicles from throughout the northeast will be showcased at the show, including classics, customs and hot rods from many of the area car clubs. The car corral and vendor displays will provide bargain hunters with some great deals.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway to Plant Trees as Part of Earth Day and "Green Team" Initiative

In celebration of Earth Day and as a part of its "Green Team" initiative, officials of New Hampshire Motor Speedway announced a plan today to plant additional trees throughout the 1,200-acre facility.

Between now and the end of the day on April 30, speedway officials will plant a tree for every ticket sold to the June 28 LENOX Industrial Tools 301 in honor of the devoted race fans who support the largest sports and entertainment venue in all of New England. A wide variety of trees will be planted including red maple, white pine, gray and yellow birch, and various hemlocks.

The speedway has more than 500 acres of permanently protected wildlife habitats located throughout the property. These habitats provide natural, undisturbed environments for many species of animal and plant life native to New Hampshire.

"We continue to be one of the most eco-friendly sports facilities in the country," said Jerry Gappens, executive vice-president and general manager of the speedway. "This program is another facet of our on-going commitment to the ecological improvement and beautification of one of the most diverse and largest parcels of land in New England."

The speedway is also working with Franklin Pierce University and Waste Management Company as part of a new "Green Team" initiative that will recycle more than half of the paper, plastic, metal, and glass waste that comes onto the property.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway is teaming up with the Manchester Monarchs for their Fan Appreciation Night celebration on Saturday, April 11 at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H.

The Monarchs will be hosting the always tough Portland Pirates. The team will also be recognizing the great sports fans throughout the area with amazing giveaways all night long.

The COM Sports Car Club will open the historic 20th season of competition at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 4.

Formed initially in 1958 as Corvettes of Massachusetts, COM is one of the oldest active sports car clubs in America. This all volunteer group has grown into a diverse organization for enthusiasts and racers throughout the northeast area and into Canada.

With an outstanding reputation for providing top-notch high-speed driving instruction and highly competitive time trialing, the competitors of COM will challenge the 1.6-mile road course at the speedway on Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5.

The club utilizes the oval's wide, banked surface and then transitions into narrower sections which include tight ess turns providing fans with a real thrill. The course highlight is the steeply banked, hairpin turn known as "the bowl," which also features several dramatic changes in elevation.

After the broadcast, Round One of the "Quest for the NHMS Golden Globe" will be held. Matt Carey, Jay Coffey, Shawn Courchesne, and Travis Barrett will face-off in the "Showdown at High Noon" on the iRacing.com Motorsports simulator in the speedway's booth. These four competitors will be looking to be the fastest qualifier in a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the site of this week's race. As an added twist, if any of the four beat the lap time of the "Hoosier Hustler," the mystery professional driver being brought in by the speedway for this competition, a donation will be made in their name to the New Hampshire Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.

Remaining NASCAR LENOX Industrial Tools 301 Tickets on Sale Monday; NHMS Announces Innovative "FansFirst Four Pay" Payment Plan

With event ticket renewals completed, New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials announced today that the limited number of tickets remaining for the Sunday, June 28 LENOX Industrial Tools 301 will go on sale on Monday, January 19 at 8:00 a.m.

In addition, speedway officials also announced a new, innovative interest-free payment option available for 2009 ticket orders. The "FansFirst Four Pay" allows fans to secure their tickets, camping spots, and pre-race pit passes with a 25-percent deposit. The remaining balance will be spread out over three additional interest-free payments.

"Our 'FansFirst Four Pay' program is one way that we can help our fans in these challenging economic times," said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. "Our new payment plan has already received a great response from our fans that have renewed their seats for the 2009 season. After speaking to several of our guests, they are very appreciative of our making it more affordable and convenient to buy tickets and camping spots. With this positive response, we decided to extend the program to anyone purchasing tickets to our 2009 NASCAR race weekends.
