Troy Taylor Named Vice President of Sales at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

LOUDON, N.H. (November 20, 2009) - Troy Taylor has been named the new Vice President of Sales at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He will oversee all aspects of the speedway's corporate sales programs and manage the sales team.

Taylor was most recently a Sales Manager at Comcast Spotlight in Worcester, Mass. Prior to his role at Comcast Spotlight, he served as a Sales manager at Greater Media in Boston, Mass. He also spent six years as an account executive with Clear Channel Radio in Massachusetts and Kentucky.

"Troy brings an excellent track record of sustained sales success, strong leadership and a true passion to his new role here at the speedway." said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager. "He will be an immediate and outstanding contributor to our growing organization."

Taylor resides in Templeton, Mass. with his wife, Tieva.

"Full House" Expected for Sunday's SYLVANIA 300

A capacity crowd will be on hand for Sunday's SYLVANIA 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Speedway officials announced today that other than a "few" single seats and handicap accessible seats, all tickets to the grandstand seating area are gone.

A limited number of backstretch, standing-room and infield "Trackside-View" tickets are available. Tickets to these areas are still available in advance by calling the speedway's ticket office at (603) 783-4931, which speedway officials are encouraging.

"Positioned as the opening venue for the first race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, we are thrilled that these drivers will begin their quest for the championship in front of a full-house," said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. "This is a testimony to the loyal fans who support NASCAR racing here at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

"As the largest sports and entertainment facility in New England, located in the seventh-largest media market in the country, this speaks volumes," said Gappens.

"We urge those fans unable to join us at the speedway Sunday to buy tickets for Friday and Saturday's exciting days of racing, and to tune in to ABC's coverage of the SYLVANIA 300, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Sunday."

Speedway Children's Charities to Hold Memorabilia Auction

The New Hampshire Motor Speedway chapter of Speedway Children's Charities will host a NASCAR Memorabilia Auction on Saturday, September 19, during the SYLVANIA 300 race weekend.

The Auction will take place in the Nationwide Pit-Stop tent in the corporate display area on Saturday at 6:00 p.m., approximately one hour after the conclusion of the NASCAR Camping World Series Truck race. Admission will be free to the public, with all auction proceeds going to the New Hampshire chapter of Speedway Children's Charities, who support the needs of children here in the Northeast.

Items up for auction include NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver helmets, uniforms, sheet metal and other racing gear from Dale Earnhardt, Jr.; Jeff Gordon; Jimmie Johnson; Tony Stewart; and many other top drivers. There will also be a special appearance by June's race winner, Joey Logano.

Local Auctioneer Paul McInnis from North Hampton, N.H. will be the master of ceremonies. Beverages will be served throughout the night.

For the first time ever, New Hampshire Motor Speedway fans will have the opportunity to be the ultimate insider at Sunday's SYLVANIA 300 with the new "Trackside Pass."

This incredible offer will allow fans pre-race pit road access; the chance to attend the Town Meeting with speedway officials Bruton Smith, Jerry Gappens, and leaders in the world of motorsports; and admission to the "Trackside Tent" and the turn one and two areas of the infield to watch the first race in the "Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup."

Hornaday Looking for Record Fourth Truck Series Win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

As New Hampshire Motor Speedway's only three-time and back-to-back winner in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Ron Hornaday, Jr. will come to New Hampshire in September to continue his record-setting domination.

Hornaday became the first repeat winner in the Camping World Truck Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2007, 11 years after winning the inaugural Truck Series race at the speedway in 1996.

Last September, Hornaday earned his third victory at the speedway, along with the distinction of being the first back-to-back Truck Series race winner at the track.

Winning in New Hampshire has also been important to Hornaday's success. In two of the three seasons he's won in New Hampshire, Hornaday has gone on to win the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship. In his career, Hornaday has four championships and 42 victories.

He's not slowing down either. The winningest driver in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series history, Hornaday has visited victory lane four times in 2009, including a win on his birthday at the Milwaukee Mile. As an encore, the 51-year-old won again the following week at Memphis Motorsports Park, and made it three in a row last week at Kentucky. He is currently the Series points leader.

"New Hampshire Motor Speedway has been a very good track for the No. 33 team for the past few years," said Hornaday. "It's pretty cool that I am the only three time winner [in the Truck Series] at that track. There are a lot of other drivers who have had a lot of success there, my boss [Kevin Harvick] being one of them. I don't know if we can make it three in a row, but we will sure try."

Thanks to the overwhelming fan response that made the Speed Zone seating such a success at the LENOX Industrial Tools 301, New Hampshire Motor Speedway has announced the creation of the SYLVANIA Speed Zone, a special seating section that offers a $39 ticket for the SYLVANIA 300 on Sunday, September 20.

A section of seats in the Laconia Grandstand has been designated as the SYLVANIA Speed Zone. NASCAR Sprint Cup Heluva Good! Pole Qualifying for the LENOX Industrial Tools 301 Washed Out

Heluva Good! Pole qualifying for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series LENOX Industrial Tools 301 was canceled Friday afternoon due to inclement weather.

Rain began falling at New Hampshire Motor Speedway at about 2:00 p.m. At that time, the final practice for the NASCAR Nationwide Series was cut short. An hour later, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying was canceled.

The field for the LENOX Industrial Tools 301 will be set according to Sprint Cup Series points standings, giving points leader Tony Stewart the pole.

Alongside Stewart in Row 1 will be Jeff Gordon. Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch fill out Row 2. Busch was the fastest in practice earlier in the day.

"It's always important when you go around to the tracks the first time," said Kurt Busch. "You know in the back of your mind it's a "Chase Race" when you go back."

His No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge had a lap time of 29.149 seconds and a top speed of 130.667 mph.

"We knew it was going to rain but I still wanted to have a practice qualifying lap under my belt. That way, when we come back in September, we're starting off with notes that are current."

Stewart hit the wall during practice and will have to go to a back-up car, but will use the same engine.

Teams will have two more practice sessions on Saturday before the LENOX Industrial Tools 301 on Sunday.

With the weather subsiding, the NASCAR Camping World Series East Heluva Good! Summer 125 started as scheduled at 5:10 p.m.

As much as $1 Million could be on the line when the 10 finalists of the LENOX Industrial Tools EXTRA-MILE HEROES Contest visit New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday, June 28.

As a part of their prize packages, the 10 finalists will be attending the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series LENOX Industrial Tools 301 race. Each of the 10 finalists will also receive $3,100, and an additional $3,100 to the charity of their choice. The grand prize winner is guaranteed $31,000, and an additional $31,000 to his charity.

However, if the No. 31 LENOX Industrial Tools Chevrolet of Jeff Burton wins Sunday's race, the grand prize will grow to $1,000,000, to be split equally between the winner and their charity.

The Mile Oval Moose, known affectionately as "Milo," will start his new job at the speedway this weekend and is sure to be a fan favorite. A long-time resident of New Hampshire, "Milo" loves racing and entertaining.

On Thursday, June 25, "Fan Fest" at New Hampshire Motor Speedway will feature free grandstand admission for NASCAR Camping World Series East Series and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour qualifying, as well as a great evening of free entertainment.

One of the big highlights at "Fan Fest" will be an interview session with NASCAR Sprint Cup star Kasey Kahne, driver of the No. 9 Budweiser Dodge. Greg Kretschmar, host of Greg and the Morning Buzz, and Jamie Staton, Sports Director at WMUR/ABC 9, will host this fan forum.

Performing live throughout the night will be up-and-coming country-rock band Jonathan Scott and the Blazing Hearts. North American County Music Association, International's 2007 "Band of the Year" in new country music. The group from Jaffrey, N.H. features frontman Jonathan Scott. Scott is the NACMAI's 2007 "Male Vocalist of the Year" and "Male Entertainer of the Year."

"Transaurus" will be doing a preview of Sunday's pre-race show on Thursday night at "Fan Fest" chewing a car cut in half by the one and only Lee 'Hackman' Breton as a part of the LENOX Industrial Tools 2009 World Tour.

Walk Where the Legends Race at Motor Racing Outreach and Speedway Children's Charities Track Walk at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Fans have the unique chance to walk in the tire tracks of their favorite NASCAR heroes during the Motor Racing Outreach and Speedway Children's Charities Track Walk on New Hampshire Motor Speedway's oval.

On Saturday, June 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., fans can walk the track for a good cause, alongside current NASCAR stars Bobby Labonte, Joe Nemechek, and Sam Hornish, Jr.

The walk will begin promptly after the NASCAR Nationwide Series Camping World RV Sales 200 presented by Turtle Wax on Saturday. Walkers can register online through June 22, with trackside registration beginning Friday, June 26.

Participants will receive wristbands and a t-shirt, available for pickup at the Track Walk Registration tent, Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The yellow registration tent is located just past the entrance to the infield tunnel. Participants must also stop there to sign a waiver form prior to walking (children under 18 must have a legal guardian present to sign the waiver form). Registration for adults is $25 in advance or $30 at the speedway, with proceeds going to Speedway Children's Charities and Motor Racing Outreach. Children age 16 and under can walk for free. Any donation or personal fundraising is welcome.

"It's great to welcome these two outstanding organizations to our speedway," said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. "What Motor Racing Outreach brings to racing is refreshing to see in professional sports, and Speedway Children's Charities continues to provide so much for children of the area in need."

Each Speedway Motorsports, Inc. facility has a local chapter of Speedway Children's Charities, which helps support programs for children throughout each track's local area. In 2008, they awarded more than $3.4 million to over 420 organizations.

Eddie Doyle, Hall of Fame Bartender and part of the inspiration for the lead character of the popular television sitcom "Cheers," will be serving race fans at the LENOX Industrial Tools 301 on Sunday, June 28.

Doyle worked at "Cheers" from 1974, when it was known as the Bull and Finch Pub, until February of this year. Well-liked because of his warm attitude, Doyle rose to fame in the Boston area, earning numerous awards including his induction into Bartender Magazine's "National Hall of Fame."

"Eddie Doyle is an icon in the world of bartending," said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. "It is our pleasure to have him as our guest, and we are honored that he could offer his services here at the speedway. This is a unique opportunity for race fans to experience the hospitality that Boston pub-goers were accustomed to."

When "Cheers" show creator Glen Charles was looking for a bar to model his set after, he was attracted to the idea of Doyle's level of fame from tending bar. New Trackside Safety Fence Up and Ready for LENOX Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

New and enhanced trackside safety fencing is up along the grandstand sides of the racing surface at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Approximately 3,400 feet of fencing was installed. The lower portion is reinforced with six strands of 5/8-inch, high-strength cable, while the upper portion consists of sixteen strands of 3/8-inch cable. "Wheel fence" arch posts also raise the overall height of the safety fence to over 21 feet.

The upgrade process, which began construction in April, will be completed in time for the LENOX Industrial Tools 301 event week as planned. The new fence system is consistent with safety standards at other Speedway Motorsports, Inc.-owned and operated facilities.

"This was not a reaction to what happened in Talladega," said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway, referring to Carl Edwards' wreck on the last lap which injured seven fans. "Bruton Smith, our chairman, put this project on the top of our priority list for 2009 facility improvements, utilizing the improved technology and engineering used at other SMI facilities and installing it here."

The previous grandstand safety fence measured 16 feet in height from the track's surface, 12½ feet high from the grandstand surface side. The new fence measures 21 and a half feet in height from the racing surface, 18 feet on the grandstand side.

"We are upgrading many aspects of New Hampshire Motor Speedway to Speedway Motorsports, Inc.'s standards, and this fell right in place with the infield renovations in process for the June race," said John Zudell, Vice President of Operations and Development at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

A reconfiguration of New Hampshire Motor Speedway's infield will greatly increase its usable space and functionality.

Infield construction began in May of this year after the necessary permits were obtained. After just two months of other structural adjustments and improvements, New Hampshire Motor Speedway is nearing the completion of its infield transformation.

The most impressive of these adjustments is the expansion of the infield, resulting in an increase of over 400 percent in usable land. Overall, this portion of the infield has grown from one and a half usable acres to nearly seven.

Fencing installation was another big project at the speedway. Interior fencing in the infield has been replaced with new, black chain link.

The winner of the LENOX Industrial Tools 301 on Sunday, June 28, will visit a redesigned Victory Lane, also part of the renovation. With more ornate plans in mind for the facility, Vice President of Operations and Development John Zudell said the update will serve as an "interim Victory Lane."

Though physical construction only took two months, the project is the result of 18 months of rigorous planning and approval. When O. Bruton Smith, Chairman and CEO of Speedway Motorsports, Inc., purchased the track in early 2008, he immediately started planning the infield renovation project.

Fans will get to experience Mr. Smith's vision during the LENOX Industrial Tools 301 weekend, starting Thursday, June 25, and can view the renovations firsthand with the Pre-Race Pit Pass, available online for $100.

Record Purse of Over Seven Million Dollars Posted by New Hampshire Motor Speedway for LENOX Industrial Tools 301 Weekend

Featuring one of the most lucrative payouts-per-mile in NASCAR racing, record purses totaling more than seven million dollars are up for grabs for NASCAR drivers competing in next weekend's LENOX Industrial Tools 301 events at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Drivers racing in any of the week's four NASCAR series races will be chasing their share of $7,005,549 in prize money, the highest in New Hampshire Motor Speedway history. The NASCAR Sprint Cup purse is $5,423,189, up from last year's track record.

"The money is big, and the anticipation is great as NASCAR racing returns to New Hampshire Motor Speedway," said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. "We're proud to host four of NASCAR's major divisions and offer one of the most lucrative purses in racing."

The LENOX Industrial Tools 301 features the sixth-highest purse per-mile on the series schedule to date. Drivers will compete for that distinction when the green flag drops at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series will be racing for the $1,197,559 designated to the Camping World RV Sales 200 presented by Turtle Wax on Saturday, June 27, at 3:00 p.m.

Race weekend kicks off Friday, June 26, with the NASCAR Camping World Series East battling for a share of $217,884 in the Heluva Good! Summer 125. The remaining $166,917 is on the line in the New England 100, when the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour goes green Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
