The M/S Mount Washington is partying on July 4th and invites families aboard to join the fun. Passengers can enjoy an evening of dining and dancing while cruising the lake looking for fireworks. The July 4th Fireworks Party Cruise departs from Weirs Beach, and is from 7 to 10 p.m. All tickets cost $49. The boarding time for this cruise is 6:15 p.m.

The M/S Mount Washington offers dinner dance cruises four nights a week on Lake Winnipesaukee from Weirs Beach. All dinner dance cruises include a buffet dinner. The M/S Mount Washington is a smoke-free vessel.

Memorial Day Weekend Deals: M/S Mount Washington

The historic M/S Mount Washington honors those that have served our country. During Memorial Day weekend- Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25- special deals will be offered for a cruise on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. Veterans, military personnel, and their families receive a $10 discount off the $25 adult fare. Additionally, all kids 12 and under cruise free. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments are available on board. The offer is good on all daytime cruises from all ports.

The cruise around Lake Winnipesaukee covers 72 square miles and contains more than 240 habitable islands. It is surrounded by the White Mountain range and mostly spring fed.

This weekend the M/S Mount Washington will also party into the evening with its first dinner and dance cruise of the season. The Sea 'n' Beef cruise is on Saturday, May 23, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. This cruise is an opportunity to dine, dance, and enjoy the ambiance and romance of Lake Winnepesaukee. There will be live entertainment on up to three decks. Cost is $49 per person.

Astronomy Bowl 2009 Winners Announced

The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center hosted New Hampshire's third annual "Astronomy Bowl" on Saturday March 28th. Kritlapas Chanchaiworawit, of Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, took first place with a scholarship of $1,000. Second place winner Samantha Ryan, from Lakes Region Christian Academy in Laconia, was awarded a $500 scholarship. In third place was Preston Morrissette, from Lakes Region Christian Academy in Laconia, who was awarded a $250 scholarship.

The Astronomy Bowl is a statewide competition for high school students to compete by answering questions about constellations, planets, stars, and other objects projected in the Discovery Center’s state-of-the-art planetarium. The top three Astronomy Bowl winners received silver commemorative “astronomy” bowls, presented by NASA astronaut Dr. Jay Buckey. The scholarship awards will be formally presented at Spacetacular Saturday on May 2, 2009, an annual event at the Discovery Center in celebration of Astronomy Day. The winners will also receive special recognition at the State House from Governor John Lynch and the members of the Executive Council.

During Motorcycle Week Cruise Instead Of Drive

Getting around the Lakes Region during Motorcycle Week (June 14-22) is not easy. Roads are closed or clogged with bikes from around the world, and in some regions four-wheel traffic is prohibited entirely. How is the best way to get to Weirs Beach and be a part of the action? Take to the water and leave the driving to Mount Washington Cruises.

While the Winnipesaukee Flagship M/S Mount Washington will be dockside during Motorcycle Week, her sister ships will offer quick and easy shuttle service between the ports of Weirs Beach and Meredith on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. With fares of just $15 per person roundtrip, passengers will enjoy the scenery of picturesque Meredith Bay during their half hour journey to Weirs Beach.

The Doris E. and Sophie C. will offer shuttle service on Thursday, June 19 (10:00 AM – 11:00PM), Friday, June 20 (9:00 AM – 1:30 AM), Saturday, June 21 (9:00 AM – 1:30 AM) and Sunday, June 22 (9:00 AM – 2:30 PM).

The Motor Vessel (M/V) Sophie C. is the oldest floating post office in the United States. Each season she provides mail service on the lake, a tradition dating back to 1892. Passengers are invited to fill out Sophie C. postcards, complete with Sophie's own unique, collectible, stamp and mail them right on board. To make the trip even sweeter, passengers can enjoy a treat from the collection of ice cream novelty items and snacks for sale.

The 85 ft. M/V Doris E. offers indoor and outdoor seating, snacks (cookies, candy), and a restroom. Passengers will enjoy spectacular scenery of the smaller islands adjacent to Weirs Bay and views of the western end of Lake Winnipesaukee while traveling to their destination.
