Manchester Central Key Club hosts Ski-A-Thon at Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride

The Manchester Central High School Key Club will host a Ski-A-Thon at Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride on February 14th, Valentine’s Day, to raise money for Crotched Mountain Adaptive Ride and Ski (CMARS), a non-profit organization that helps physically and mentally handicapped participants learn to ski and snowboard. The event will begin Saturday night at 5pm, and continue into Sunday, with the lifts closing at 3am. Pledges will be collected by all of the participants, with 100% of the money raised going directly to CMARS. While the Key Club will be hosting the event, other Central High School students are welcome to attend, provided they collect the minimum of $50 in pledges.

One of CMARS major sponsors is Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride, who willprovide participants with complementary lift tickets for the night. The usual cost of a lift ticket is being donated to the cause by each participant. Transportation will be provided by the Key Club who arranged for three buses from the Manchester Transit Authority to transport students
from Central High School to Crotched Mountain. Furthermore, Ken Jones Ski Mart has agreed to donate gifts worth an excess of 300 dollars to the event to award participants who raise the most pledge money. Other donations have been made by Indian Head Athletics and Olympia Sports to the event.

Sponsors of the ski-a-thon include the Manchester Central High School Key Club, Scott and Mallory Sandler, Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride, Ken Jones Ski Mart, Indian Head Athletics, and Olympia Sports. Nearly 90 students, faculty members, and parents have registered to attend. In addition to skiing, there will be a bonfire and food during the
night.

February Fun at Crotched Mountain

As we all look at the second half of the 08-09 season, we start to think of spring conditions and warmer temps. Well, we are not there yet and there is still a lot of skiing and riding to do at Crotched. The Mountain was hit with some thawing temps this past weekend but we are so dedicated to keeping the slopes white that the snowmaking crew was out laying down new snow the last two nights!! The next couple of weeks are looking to bring great snow, awesome events and super sweet deals to Crotched… you don’t want to miss out.

Friday the 13th - Midnight Madness Fright Night

Calling all you ghoulies, freaks & weirdos!! Crotched will be hosting Midnight Madness Fright Night. Show up wearing your craziest, spookiest costume to be entered in a raffle for some awesome swag and a chance to win an end-of-season pass. Monster Energy will be here sampling product and Snow Board Jones in Manchester will be in the terrain park hosting an event. You really do not want to miss this one. It is Freedom Friday as well so all college students will receive a $29 5p-3a ticket with a valid ID.

Saturday the 14th – Crotched Mountain Lovefest
Come enjoy the Hi-Fi funky soul music of Hipology with special guest singer Sarah Aborn. These guys will have you grooving all night long. Bar specials in Onset Pub for all you lovebirds. Crotched Mountain will also be hosting a Ski-a-thon that same night to benefit the CMARS program. This event has been coordinated by the Manchester Central High School Key Club and is sponsored by Scott and Mallory Sandler, Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride, Ken Jones Ski Mart, Indian Head Athletics, and Olympia Sports.

Monday the 16th – The Rat Race “Dead Prez” Edition

Back for the second time, the Crotched Mountain Rat Race is an open slalom race for all abilities as well as disciplines. You do not have to be the fastest racer just the closest to the pace time and you could win $500.00 cash money. Registration will be from 8:30 to 10:30 in the main lobby.

Crotched Mountain Ski and Ride begins 3AM skiing December 26

Crotched Mountain began skiing & riding until 3am on Friday and Saturday nights back in 2003. Since then, the mountain has made a huge impact with the late-night tradition called Midnight Madness, being featured by media outlets around the globe. Midnight Madness for the 2008-09 season begins Friday, December 26th.

All of Crotched’s terrain is under lights for night skiing including terrain parks. Skiers and snowboarders have already been on slopes early
this season, under the lights until 9pm, which Crotched does regularly 6 nights per week. Midnight Madness extends Friday and Saturday nights until
3am.

“It’s wild”, says Craig Messa on staff at Crotched. “People come here from all over just for the fun. There’s always something going on.”

Crotched Mountain’s Midnight Madness events are known for slopeside bonfires, on-snow volleyball, live music, rail jams and more. Midnight
Madness events will run this season, every Friday and Saturday night between December 26th and February 28th.

Crotched Mountain begins season pass club enrollment

Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride has begun their online season pass club enrollment for the 2008-09 ski & ride season. The season pass club program is a great way to enhance your winter experience at Crotched this coming season.

The online clubs allow skiers and riders to sell and purchase discounted season passes for the upcoming season. The club program is an excellent fundraising opportunity for church groups, scouting organizations and town recreation departments to offer their communities great prices on season passes to a great mountain.

“The mountain is currently looking for enthusiastic people to open up new season pass clubs as well as helping our current club get up and running for the new season” said Craig Messa, program administrator. “The pass discounts can’t be beat and the benefits for organizers get better every season.”

The sign-up process takes less then 10 minutes. Essentially the mountain is opening a mini online store that gives you the ability to sell many different types of season passes that are valid at Crotched Mountain as well as Mount Snow (VT), Attitash (NH) and Jack Frost / Big Boulder (PA).

Motivated club organizers can earn 7% back on every pass sold through their club as well as free passes to Crotched, ticket vouchers to Attitash (NH) and Mount Snow (VT) and gift cards to Crotched.

Crotched Mountain's 5th Annual Big Air Contest a Big Success!

BENNINGTON, NH – On Saturday March 15th Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride held
its 5th annual Big Air competition. Many spectators turned out to witness
the aerial acrobatics by some of the best skiers and riders in New England.

With over $7,000 in cash and prizes to be won in the competition, the event
brought out the best in all those who competed. Top prizes for the Pro
division went to Miles Maloney of Peterborough with his trick of a Backside
Rodeo 720 and Richie Paradise of Bedford who landed a switch 900. Top
amateur men’s and women’s spots went to George Greenwood of New Ipswich and
Monique Hyman of Bondville, VT.

Now that spring skiing is in full swing, Crotched is offering weekday
prices every weekend until the end of the season. This is an excellent way
to get those last few days on the slopes before the snow is gone. The
mountain will be operating on their spring schedule of weekends only from
9am to 5pm.

Crotched Mountain attempts to set record while raising money for the disabled

On Saturday, March 15th from 10:00am - 3:00pm Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride will attempt to establish the record for most starts on a NASTAR race course in a single day. NASTAR is an open race format that welcomes all ages and ability levels.

A discounted entry fee of $5.00 will get unlimited runs on the NASTAR race course. The mountain will be holding a fundraiser during the race to benefit CMARS- the Crotched Mountain Adaptive Ride & Ski program. All donations will be used to purchase new equipment for the program.

CMARS is a non-profit program and an affiliate of AbilityPLUS. The program provides ski and snowboard lessons for students experiencing a range of disabilities. All lessons are taught by trained volunteer instructors.
