November 30th price increase for season passes approaches

NORTH CONWAY, NH -- Cranmore Mountain, long known for its value for family skiing, offers the best season pass prices in the region. With season pass prices increasing November 30th, skiers and riders are encouraged to sign up for their passes for the coming winter to keep the sport affordable for the entire family.

Cranmore's "Happy Trails Pass" costs just $169 for kids ages 6-12 with no blackout dates. Teens ages 13-18 are just $299 and adults pay only $479 for unlimited skiing, or $319 for a pass with holiday restrictions.

Skiers and riders looking for even more variety can consider the Threedom Pass, now featuring Cranmore, Bretton Woods and Waterville Valley resorts. When you add up the numbers, it's easy to see how this 3-resort season pass delivers the most skiing and riding in New Hampshire. The combined trail count is 195 with 12 terrain parks, 893 acres of skiing and riding and 28 lifts. All three mountains are within an hour's drive of each other making the pass an easy choice for skiers heading up I-93 or I-95 to the White Mountains .

A 2009-2010 Threedom Pass Anytime option with no blackout dates at all three resorts is $839 for ages 19 and over skiers and riders; $499 for teens (ages 13-18) and $449 for juniors (ages 6-12). Threedom Passes will also feature a full line up of benefits for next winter including $10 off for friends and family on weekends and holidays, night skiing and riding at Cranmore and Bretton Woods and special offers on Nordic skiing and resort lodging. For people visiting the Boston Ski and Snowboard Expo Nov. 19-22, the 3-Pak will be available for sale at the show only for $99. Cranmore Mountain Adds 80 Tower Snow Guns for the 2009-10 Ski Season

New Tower Guns Help Cranmore Open More Early Season Terrain

Cranmore Mountain, located in the heart of North Conway Village, New Hampshire, today announced it would be making significant investments in its snowmaking equipment with the addition of 80 new energy-efficient tower snow guns.

The new equipment represents an almost 80% increase in the resort's inventory of snow tower guns. Not only will the new guns produce more snow more quickly, they'll also require far less electricity to operate.

"Snowmaking represents the majority of our energy use," stated Cranmore General Manager Ben Wilcox. "These new guns will allow us to make up to three times more snow than traditional snow guns. The guns also use less air which means lower energy consumption and therefore we will be reducing our carbon footprint as well." Cranmore has been known as an environmental leader in the ski industry since 2003 when the mountain was the first to convert its grooming fleet to biodiesel fuel.

Another benefit of the new equipment is its ability to make snow at higher temperatures. "We can make snow at temperatures 4 degrees higher than older model tower guns," continued Wilcox. "It's easy to see how this will allow us to make more snow in those critical early season periods and open more terrain more quickly."

The new tower guns will be set up on its popular Easy Street beginner trail off the summit, extending to the Gibson Trail, down to Beginner's Luck. Guns will also be positioned on high traffic trails including Upper Hurricane to Middle, allowing the mountain to provide the best in snow conditions on the busiest day.

New tower guns will also be added to the blue cruiser favorite Skimeister, lining the trail from top to bottom. This in addition to the installation of tower guns on Artist Falls trail 2 years ago will give Cranmore superior snow making on virtually every major route down the mountain.

Cranmore has invested close to half a million dollars for this coming winter including the snowmaking improvements and facility upgrades and repairs, the largest investment in several years at the 73 year old resort.

Cranmore was recognized as the 2009 Tourism and Hospitality Business of the Year by Business NH Magazine. The prestigious award was given to Cranmore based on its successful business growth over the last two years, its community support, and its commitment to employees and the environment.

Cranmore was also rated #5 in the east for best resort in 2009 by readers of Snoweast Magazine. Its terrain parks were ranked #3 in the east by the same publication. New Hampshire magazine also ranked Cranmore's wine dinners as best in the state for mountain top dining in 2008.

Cranmore's Halloween Haunt Opens this Weekend

Friday, October 2 marks the opening of Cranmore Mountain's annual Halloween Haunt, the Ghoullog. Now in its third year, the Ghoullog this year has doubled in size with more screams, scares and surprises than in previous years. Visitors who have been to the event previously are forewarned - nothing will be the same.

What's new at the Ghoullog this year? Death Becomes You head ghoul Lance Davis sums it up to one word: "Zombies" "This year we are bringing in zombies in a big way. We added a very large space indoors at the base that gives our victims over a football field and a half of pitch-black pathways. We won't tell you where the zombies are. But don't worry - they'll find you."

In addition to the new base area haunt, the mountain-top portion of the Ghoullog has been completely reworked. "Everything is new," stated Cranmore General Manager Ben Wilcox, "We want to give our guests a reason to come back year after year. It is unbelievable what Death Becomes You has accomplished this year. It is over the top."

The Ghoullog is New England's only mountain-top haunt, where visitors board the quad chairlift for a night-time ride to the summit for a haunted mountain-top tour.

The tour starts at the base of Cranmore Mountain and includes an indoor base area haunted arena, and a night-time stroll through a haunted walkway to the Quad. After the 7-minute ride to the 2,000 foot summit of Cranmore, visitors tour a haunted summit cabin.

While at the summit, spectacular night-time views of North Conway Village below are sure to delight all comers. At the end of the tour, visitors enjoy a ride down the Quad chairlift to the base with a breath-taking vantage of the Moat Mountains and Mount Washington at night.

Cranmore Comedy Night returns for Labor Day hijinks September 4th

Cranmore Mountain's popular comedy series continues on Friday, Sept. 4th with three popular Boston-area comedians plus emcee Mike Viselli taking the Eating House stage for a Labor Day kick off party.

Doors open at 7pm for an 8pm performance by Mike Viselli, Paul Hunt, Mike Koutrobis and Kate Ghiloni. A cash bar will be available at Zip's Pub.

Michael Viselli has performed in venues in and around the Hub such as Nick's Comedy Stop and the Comedy Connection. Michael is the event's emcee and is reprising his comic turns from his original sell-out appearance at Cranmore's first comedy night two years ago.

Also appearing is Paul Hunt. Hunt is an energetic comic originally from Maine. Paul got his start in Manhattan in 2002 working alongside some of the most respected names in the industry. Since then he has headlined venues and colleges across the U.S. He may be recognized from a number of places including a national Subway commercial, a VH1 short film, or Last Comic Standing season 7. Paul blends a mixture of stylings that range from offbeat observations to high energy one man rock shows.

Comedian Mike Koutrobis has touched on almost every area of the entertainment industry during his 23 years performing. Starting out at age 15, he trained with the Ringling Brothers; juggling, riding unicycles and performing magic tricks. Since then, he has broadened his resume performing as a Stand-up Comic, Actor, DJ, Musician and Host (both radio and live shows).

Most recently, he can be found ring announcing for the Global Fight League, touring the comedy circuit throughout New England and New York.

Comedienne Kate Ghiloni makes her Cranmore Comedy Night debut with great reviews after performing in Boston and Portland comedy clubs.

Cranmore opens tubing and fun zone attraction for summer

Cranmore Mountain once again welcomes visitors to its slopes in summer with the expansion of their popular tubing operation to open July 1, 2009. The tubing park will be offered along with Fun Zone activities, including bouncy house, disc golf and other fun and games for families.

The summer tubing operation uses a special surface made by Neveplast, a European company. Neveplast matting provides a sliding surface for tubing and installs this material for summer tubing parks and for summer ski areas at many locations and resorts throughout Europe, the US and Canada. It uses the same tubes and lifts that Cranmore utilizes in its winter operation. The park will be situated on the resort's South Slope.

The Cranmore Tubing Park is serviced by a Magic Carpet style lift. Visitors pick up their tube at the base and carry it as they effortlessly ride the surface lift to the top of the tubing park. From there, the tube is placed at the top of the matting and the person sits down on the tube and pushes off down the slope. The tubing surface is dry, non-mechanized and is gravity driven. Because there is no water involved, no swim suits or special clothing or gear is necessary. Anyone can tube regardless of age, ability or skill.

This type of tubing park is the only one of its kind in New Hampshire. Cranmore already attracts more visitors to its winter tubing park operation than any other operation in the state. "Tubing at Cranmore is the fastest growing segment of our winter business and has been for several years," stated Cranmore General Manager Ben Wilcox. "It's only natural to offer our guests this most popular activity during the other months of the year when so many people come to the North Conway area for their summer and foliage season vacations. There is nothing else like it in the state or Mount Washington Valley. It will be a great addition to the existing summer attractions in our vicinity and will give families something new to try this summer."

Fun Zone activities bring back the popular concept launched last winter at Cranmore, with a 20x20 foot bouncy house, giant inflated slide, plus pick up games of soccer, volley ball, tether ball, whiffle ball, sandbox and other activities. A 9-hole disc golf course is also set up, winding in and around Cranmore's slopes and glades. Fun Zone activities take place at the base of the South Slope as well and vary from day to day based on weather and business levels.

Additionally, guests can enjoy snacks and beverages from Cranmore's Snack Shack at the Park's entrance. In addition to buying attraction tickets at the Shack, visitors may purchase soda, candy bars, pretzels, hot dogs and other summer favorites.

Cranmore projects a July 1, 2009 opening date then operating daily through Labor Day, Sept. 7, 2009. Fall schedule includes weekends Sept. 12 - Nov. 1, plus Oct. 12 for Columbus Day. Hours of operation are 10am - 6pm with special extended evening hours during Cranmore's Thursday Night summer concert series in July and August and its Ghoullog Halloween event weekends in October.

Visitors pay just $12 for a two-hour tubing ticket. Fun Zone admission costs just $5 for two hours. Disc Golf is available for an additional $8 per person, or may be purchased in combination with tubing and Fun Zone for $19. Prices are for all ages. Children 42" and over may ride in their own tube; those 42" and under may ride with a paying adult.

Cranmore Opens Indoor Fun Zone

NORTH CONWAY, NH - Cranmore Mountain today announced the addition of a huge indoor activity center with a variety of fun for the whole family. Called the Cranmore Fun Zone, it features a giant inflatable obstacle course, oversized bouncy house, and pick-up games of floor hockey, tennis, dodge ball, Twister and board games. The Fun Zone is set up indoors at Cranmore Family Fitness Center and will be open Saturday and vacation period evenings for the winter season starting December 26 through Saturday, March 21, 2009. A preview of the Fun Zone will open Thanksgiving Weekend on Friday, Nov. 28 and Sat., Nov. 29, 2008.

Ben Wilcox, Cranmore's General Manager stated, "Cranmore has long been known as a winter vacation destination for skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. NORTH CONWAY, NH - Cranmore Mountain's popular comedy series continues on Friday, July 11^th with three popular Boston-area comedians taking the stage at the Eating House, followed by a Disco Dance Party.

Halloween Returns to Cranmore This Fall with The Ghoullog

NORTH CONWAY, NH - Cranmore Mountain in North Conway, NH celebrates Halloween every weekend in October with the return of The Ghoullog, where visitors board the quad chairlift for a night-time ride to the summit for a haunted mountain-top tour. Coming back for its second year, the Ghoullog will be bigger, scarier and more fun than ever with the addition of new haunts, animatronics, a children's Halloween Harvest Festival and outdoor food court. After the 7-minute ride to the 2,000 foot summit of Cranmore, visitors tour the Ghoullog, where haunted happenings are sure to frighten and surprise the hardiest souls.

Event dates are Thurs. 10/2 - Sat. 10/4; Fri. 10/10 - Sun. 10/12; Fri. 10/17 - Sat. 10/18; Fri. 10/24 - Sat. 10/25; and Thurs. 10/30 - Sat. 11/1.

Cranmore will also host a children's Halloween Harvest Festival for families with young children on the same dates from 5pm - 8pm. The attraction will offer a mini corn maze, bouncy house, obstacle course, Halloween crafts and a scavenger hunt. Tickets for the Festival cost only $10 for all ages, or $35 when combined with a Ghoullog ticket.

Cranmore's ghoul-fest will offer refreshments in Zip's Pub for the event. New for this year, the Ghoullog will feature an outdoor food court offering fair food favorites like fried dough, sausage, pepper and onion sandwiches, popcorn, caramel apples, pizza slices, hot cocoa, hot cider and coffee. The pub and the food court open at 5pm on each date of operation.

The Ghoullog will operate from 7-10pm with doors opening at 5pm. For Halloween Weekend only, 10/31 - 11/1, the Ghoullog will open extended hours with doors opening at 5pm, and the attraction running from 6:30pm - 10:30pm. The ticket office, Pub and outdoor food court will open at 5pm on all dates of operation.

The attraction is recommended for ages 10 and up and parental discretion is advised. Tickets can be reserved online at www.cranmore.com or by calling the resort at 603-356-5544. Only a limited number of tickets are sold each night so visitors are advised to reserve theirs in advance. Tickets cost $25 for all ages.

Tickets purchased online in advance will be available for $23. Residents of Carroll and Coos County, NH and Oxford County, Maine and members of the Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce are entitled to a special $18 "locals" rate on opening night, Thursday, Oct. 2^nd and on Thurs. Oct. 30th. Large groups are welcome and special group rates are offered on Thursday and Friday evenings. Cranmore's Meister Hut Wine Dinners Named "Best of NH 2008" by New Hampshire

Cranmore Mountain's Meister Hut Wine Dinners have been selected by the editors of New Hampshire Magazine as "Best of NH 2008" for Mountaintop Dinners.

The dinners, which will be offered five nights during Cranmore's winter season in 2008-2009, were launched earlier this year to great acclaim. They feature a four-course menu with wine pairings in the rustic setting of the mountaintop Meister Hut. Guests choose between a selection of five entrees, each accompanied by wine carefully matched to each course. Diners reach the summit via the high-speed express quad. The dinner is open to skiers and non-skiers alike with a welcome reception starting at 6pm each evening.

"Cranmore is fortunate to have both the setting and the culinary talents to offer guests an unparalleled dining experience," stated Cranmore's general manager, Ben Wilcox. "Skiers have been taking in the awesome views at the Meister Hut during the day for over 60 years and now they can do the same at night at these special dinners."

Wilcox continued, "We are honored to be recognized by the editors of a quality publication like New Hampshire Magazine and are proud to be selected as one of its Best of NH." The Wine Dinners will be featured in the magazine's July 2008 issue.

Last year's menu included Roasted Butternut Squash with Sautéed Radicchio, Veal Saltimbocca, Pan-seared N.Y. Sirloin au Poivre, Sattler Chicken Breast, Crabmeat Stuffed Sole with Poached Jumbo Shrimp topped with a Lobster Sherry Cream Sauce, and other outstanding culinary delights. Four courses of wine accompanied the meal, including selections such as Prosecco, M&R NV (Italy); Old Vine Rose, Red Guitar, 2006 (Navarra Spain); Vouvray, Chateau de Monfort, 2006 (Loire, France); Pinot Blanc, Trimbach 2004 (Alsace) and more. The meal was rounded out with a dessert du jour and a glass of Tawny Port.

The Meister Hut Wine Dinners seat 30 guests per evening. A folk guitarist provides dinner music in front of the fieldstone fireplace with couches where guests enjoy good company, fine wine and appetizers prior to the meal. Tables are set up family style to encourage camaraderie and conversation between all.

A spectacular view of the Moat Mountains and the twinkling lights of North Conway Village can be seen from the Hut's large windows and covered porch, and again on the ride down the Quad at the end of the evening.

Cranmore Mountain Extends Season Into April

New Season Pass Prices Announced for 08-09 and Valid for Rest of This Season

NORTH CONWAY, NH – Cranmore Mountain today announced it will extend its winter operating season into April, with skiing and riding offered through Sunday, April 6, and its tubing park open weekends through Sunday, April 27.

With over 135" inches of snow so far this winter and more in the forecast, Cranmore’s sunny south facing slopes will be the place for fun, sunshine and skiing with their latest closing date in over 10 years.

"We reviewed our snow reports for the last 10 years and cannot find a closing date later than April 1st, so this is truly a remarkable winter for us. We have been enjoying above average snow conditions and above average skier interest this March," stated Cranmore General Manager Ben Wilcox. "With the support of our staff and the encouragement of our guests, we made the decision to stay open later than usual and add the extra week of operations to our original plans."

Currently operating with 100% of its 42 trails, 6 glades and 3 terrain parks, the resort plans to keep the bullwheels turning for skiers and riders through the end of the first weekend of April.

But spring fun in the snow won’t be reserved only for those on boards and skis. New Hampshire’s most popular tubing park, the Arctic Blast Tubing Park at Cranmore , plans on operating weekends through the end of the month. The Park will keep its regular hours of operation through Sunday, March 30 (Thurs. 3-9pm, Fri. & Sat. 9am- 9pm, and Sun. 9am – 4pm). After the 30th, the park will operate weekends only, Sat. 11am – 7pm and Sundays 11am – 4pm through April 27. Prices for the tubing park are $18 for a 2 hour ticket and $24 for an unlimited ticket.

To celebrate its extended season, Cranmore will offer 2 for 1 midweek ski lift tickets from Monday, March 31 – Friday, April 4. This means 2 people ages 19+ can ski for only $49, or $24.50 each.

Cranmore also announced that its Happy Trails Season Pass for 08-09 is for sale at the resort. As a special bonus, the pass will be valid for the remainder of this winter, plus all of next season, at no extra cost. Happy Trails Passes, valid only at Cranmore Mountain, are available at the following price through the May 31st deadline at which time prices will increase:

Travel Channel's Samantha Brown recommends North Conway Resort for Families

NBC's popular morning news show, The Today Show, featured Cranmore Mountain Resort as its top pick for New Hampshire for families looking for fun and inexpensive skiing.

Travel Channel host Samantha Brown hosted the segment which aired the morning of Thursday, February 21, 2008. Brown described Cranmore as a great value as she encouraged families to ski at mid-sized mountains like Cranmore for smaller crowds and lower prices, especially midweek.

Brown specifically recommended Cranmore's Cranapalooza event as being ideal for families, with night skiing, snow tubing, face painting and other family activities. Today Show weatherman Al Roker joked with Brown about the event's name, riffing on the word "Cranapalooza" while video footage of Cranmore's slopes ran in the background.

Waterville Valley and Cranmore Welcome Mount Washington Resort's Bretton Woods to the 2008-2009 Threedom® Pass

Waterville Valley and Cranmore Mountain Resort are pleased to announce that Mount Washington Resort's Bretton Woods will join the two resorts next winter to offer the best season pass variety and value in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Entering its tenth season, the Threedom Pass has long offered New England skiers and riders a great choice for those who want to hit the slopes frequently. Now with the addition of Mount Washington Resort's Bretton Woods to the Threedom Pass line up, snow lovers will have access to more terrain, more trails and more lifts than ever before - and all in close proximity to the Boston region.

For as little as $329 for kids ages 6-12, the Threedom Pass will offer skiing and riding on 195 trails, 12 terrain parks, and 893 acres serviced by 28 lifts. The three resorts are all within 2.5 hours of Boston with convenient access from Routes 93 and 95. All three mountains are about an hour's drive of each other, making the pass the ideal choice for residents of and frequent visitors to the White Mountains region of New Hampshire.
