Opening Doors to Teens and Families with Acting, Music, Dance, and Foosball!

In celebration of Peterborough’s October First Friday Celebrations, Club Cannon is throwing open its doors and welcoming the entire community to visit their historic
building, nosh on munchies, and find out about this hidden “treasure on the hill.”

The evening invites residents from around the region to “drop in” at their location anytime between 6pm and 8:30pm on Friday, October 3rd. Club Cannon staff will be on hand to answer questions about the organization, displays and program representatives will be presenting the many upcoming events and activities, and light snacks will be available for those who need the extra bit of encouragement.

Among the featured participants will be student volunteers from FranklinPierce University who will be signing up teens for free instrument and dance lessons throughout the semester, an interactive performance from the issue-based theatre troupe Acting Out, a display of WAPAC Robotics’ newest invention, information about Club Cannon’s upcoming Day of the Dead celebrations, and much, much more.

“People have no idea just how many wonderful activities go on here,” said John Sefel, Teen Center Coordinator with Club Cannon. “Just walking through the door on October 3rd should quickly give people a better understanding of the breadth and scope of our mission. From rock concerts to improv theatre to foosball to guitar hero to cultural celebrations, we work with our partners to provide a safe, fun place for teens and their families.”

Throughout this fall, the Club will be working directly with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, WAPAC Robotics, the Mariposa Museum, Actors’ Circle Theatre, Franklin Pierce University, the Challenge Ropes Course program, and several other teen and community driven organizations. Many of these partnerships will create special free programs for teens and their families
throughout the fall.

“From the great Day of the Dead celebration that we’re planning with the Mariposa to the free guitar lessons, there’s something for everyone. This open house is our chance to spread the word about everything we’ve been working so hard on!”

The Club Cannon Open House will be held Friday, October 3rd with drop-in hours from 6pm – 8:30pm. Residents from around the region are welcome to drop by at any point in the evening to enjoy the performances and find out more about the organization.
