As the Currier debuts Andy Warhol: Pop Politics, the museum will also honor Warhol's dedication to community service. Warhol volunteered at shelters in New York City and visitors to the Warhol exhibit can assist those in need in Manchester by bringing any non-perishable food item (a can of Campbell's Soup, perhaps) to the Currier Museum during Andy Warhol: Pop Politics (9.27.08 – 01.04.09) to receive $1 off museum admission.
Pop Politics presents together for the first-time Warhol's paintings, prints, drawings, and photographs of political figures. Timed to coincide with the 2008 presidential election, this exhibition offers a thought-provoking and entertaining look at the leaders who shaped the twentieth century through the eyes of Pop artist Andy Warhol.
"The Currier is delighted to be able to partner with New Horizons and use the excitement around this exhibition to raise awareness and collect food at this critical time of need," said Currier director Susan Strickler.
"New Horizons is very grateful for this partnership with the Currier and pleased that they chose to do this wonderful food drive on our behalf," said Susan Howland, Director of Development for New Horizons. "This will surely make a difference for the many impoverished people who depend upon us."
