PublishingWorks is announcing the release of two new hiking
books: Haunted Hikes of New Hampshire, by Marianne O'Connor, and Loop
Year: 365 Days on the Trail, written by John Sheirer.
Haunted Hikes of New Hampshire is written by a Nashua native and
details the ghost stories associated with some of our great hiking
trails. These stories are family-oriented and intended to help
children want to get out into the great outdoors and go exploring.
Author Marianne O'Connor is heavily involved in No Child Left Inside
and Other outdoor recreation programs throughout the state.
John Sheirer has braved nor'easters, weathered summer scorchers,
and endured the bitter April rains. He has a lesson everyone can learn
from: the power of the hike. Sheirer set a goal to hike the McCann
trail in Somers, Connecticut every day for a year. During each trek,
he learned about himself, the human condition, and the environment. He
recorded his words of wisdom in daily entries. These experiences are
the essence of Loop Year.
