MANCHESTER - Did you ever wonder why some press releases make it into the media and others don't?
Have you been put in charge or writing a company or club newsletter and wonder how to keep it from ending up in the trash before it's read?
The Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications is offering a day-long workshop to answer these important questions.
With reporters buried in press releases, the workshop will offer tips on how to stand out by delivering your message, quickly, clearly and concisely. With all readers pressed for time, learn some insider tricks about how to write newsletters that are informative, compelling and most importantly, keep the reader's interest.
Writing Press Releases and Newsletters will be presented at the school in Manchester on Friday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The registration fee of $40 includes lunch.
The workshop is geared toward those who write press releases or newsletters for non-profit organizations or businesses, but also is open to the general public.
Instructors Stacy Milbouer and Karen Spiller will cover how to write these mini publications, concentrating on content and message, not the mechanics of layout and design.
Karen Spiller is a manager of media relations at BAE Systems in Nashua. She also has years of experience as a business writer for The Nashua Telegraph.
Stacy Milbouer is reporter and columnist for The Telegraph. Both have had to write and screen press releases and newsletters.
