New Hampshire Public Radio's 2008 Folk Show Folk Show

Keene, NH—New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) will host the 2nd Annual Folk Show Folk Show on April 22, 7:30 p.m., at the Colonial Theatre in downtown Keene, NH. Three world-class singer/songwriters will come together for this night only to celebrate Earth Day. Catie Curtis, Vance Gilbert and Cliff Eberhardt will share the stage, playing both separately and together, in a unique "songwriter-in the-round" performance with special selections celebrating Earth Day. NHPR's The Folk Show host Kate McNally will emcee and pose a few questions to the musicians throughout the performance. The concert will closely mirror the experience of being in studio for an interview on The Folk Show. Proceeds will benefit New Hampshire Public Radio and the concert is in recognition of the Folk Show hosted by Kate McNally.

This round-robin format allows musicians a venue in which to perform more informally and spontaneously. It is an intimate evening with some of folk music's most original voices. The round-robin format will enhance the audience's enjoyment of Catie Curtis' intricately layered voice, Vince Gilbert's artistic and soulful vocals, and Cliff Eberhardt's passionate delivery of melodies and lyrics.

Ticket prices are $29.50, $39.50, and $55.50. Special Gold Circle top- level seats are $55.50 and include admission to a post-show reception on stage with a meet & greet with several of the artists.

Catie Curtis' most recent release, Long Night Moon, reveals stripped down modern folk. The track "People Look Around" co-wrote with Mark Erelli, was honored the Grand Prize from the International Songwriting Competition. Vance Gilbert's 2006 release of "Angles Castles Covers" is a tribute to the songs he's admired, loved, and covered over his 20 plus year career. The album highlights classics with a twist of originality as he enhances Al Green's "I'm So Tired Of Being Alone" with an accordion and mandolin. Cliff Eberhardt's musical influence is drawn from James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, and Bruce Springsteen among others. He was a driving force of the Greenwich Village New Folk movement and his songs have been covered by his peers including Ritchie Havens, Buffie St. Marie, and Erasure.

"The Folk Show has become a staple at NHPR, and we are very pleased to be able to host this special event in our state's Monadnock region for a second year. This region has a tremendous folk music culture, and it's especially wonderful to combine both the sentiment of Earth Day celebrations with the talent of local artists as a way to show our commitment to local folk musicians and our listeners," said Betsy Gardella, NHPR President & CEO.
