Goffstown’s 11- and 12-year-old all-stars worked deep into the losers’ bracket of the District 1 baseball tournament, but fell just short of a chance at redemption.
On July 6, Windham came away with a 2-1 victory to send Goffstown into the loser’s bracket, where the locals earned victories over Manchester East and Atkinson before falling to Bedford on Monday, July 13.
Though Bedford jumped out to a 1-0 first inning lead, Goffstown bounced back quickly when clean up hitter Brendan Hall hit one over the fence to knot the score at 1-1.
Bedford proved to be too powerful, however, pulling away with a 6-2 victory.
Against Windham, Goffstown was unable to put together much offense against Tim Hillman, who went on to throw a perfect game while striking out 16 in the winners’ bracket final against Salem National.
In addition to Hall, team members include Tim Reihl, Connor Easton, Pat Viviers, Maxx Chambers, Marcus Haynes, Tanner Putnam, Ryan Pinard, Matt Collins, Nick Zylak, Taylor Gagnon, Adam Gamach and Ben Barrs.
Despite the home team’s absence from the final tournament games, play will continue at the Villa Augustina field complex where the loser’s bracket final and District 1 championship game will take place.
