In the race for two selectmen seats, Nick Campasano, an incumbent, and Steve Fournier won with 1,213 and 1,000 votes respectively. Bill Gordon came in third with 728 votes.
Residents approved the $19,362,358 town operating budget but said no to $500,000 for fire vehicles on Article 11. Article 13, which asked for $300,000 to buy land for the expansion of the town library, passed.
“The library trustees, Dianne (Hathaway) and the entire staff are to be commended for an awesome effort,” said Selectman Scott Gross in a letter. “I am so pleased with this outcome, as it will give the library so many options in the future.”
On the school ballot, Article 2, the proposed operating budget of $34,660,647, won by an overwhelming majority, with 1,201 voting yes and 515 voting no; however, voters denied a request for $60,000 to study the expansion of school facilities.
Voters also rejected a proposal to move the salary for the school resource officer from the town to the school budget, even though the change would have saved money by allowing Goffstown to bill the school districts of Dunbarton and New Boston for their shares of the salary, which is $54,043.
Four candidates ran uncontested for the School Board: Suzanne Tremblay, 1,368 votes; Keith Allard, 1,189; Virginia McKinnon, 1,284; and Kent Nolan, 1,171.
