Goffstown celebrated its own mini-Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 11, when Goffstown’s Kallie Tabor hosted a screening of the new movie “Bride Wars,” at Hooksett’s Cinemagic, in which she played a role as one of the classroom students. Approximately 80 friends and family attended the Hooksett screening.
Kallie is a seventh-grader at Mountain View Middle School, and her neighbors might recognize her as one of the kids who sings along in the GTV production, “A Visit With Mrs. Claus,” and more recently, the winner of Goffstown’s Got Talent competition. She was also the 2001 and 2003 Pumpkin Princess during Goffstown Main Street’s Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off and Regatta.
Filming a Hollywood movie was an exciting experience, and Kallie was impressed with the production process, especially with how much energy and time go into producing a 90-minute feature.
Kallie was on set for filming for five days in Boston in April 2007. She missed two days of school, but the production needed a letter from her school principal to make sure her grades were good before she was allowed to film.
“Kallie met Anne Hathaway, Kristen Johnston, Kelly Coffield-Park, Emily Stikeman and Robert Capron,” said Dawn Tabor, Kallie’s mom. “They were all very nice to the kids. Her whole experience was a positive one, and the industry really makes sure that kids’ rights and money are protected.”
“(My favorite part of making the movie) was meeting Anne Hathaway and having my own private trailer,” said Kallie. The whole Tabor family went to New York City for the film premier, including Kallie’s dad and her 10-year-old brother, Ben.
Kallie’s family knew when she was only 2 years old that she had “something special.” She would recite the words to “The Wizard of Oz,” or perform the dance moves to “Cats.” At age 5, she became a member of the Bedford Youth Performing Company. She has performed in many local productions at the Palace Theater, and has filmed a movie for TNT and a Hasbro commercial.
She is currently taking ballet, pointe and jazz at Dance Vision and continues to audition for theater and various other productions.
