Teen shot on College Road

BY STEPHEN BEALE

Police are still investigating the shooting of a Manchester teen outside of a College Road home where his girlfriend was visiting her former boyfriend.

Sean Scadding, 19, of Manchester, was shot in the leg on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Scadding was treated for a gunshot wound at Catholic Medical Center and released, according to Goffstown police, who as of press time had yet to make any arrests in the case.

Police were alerted to the shooting close to 2 a.m.

“I heard gunshots and heard a car peel out,” Andrew Coletti, 26, of 12 Emerald Circle, said. He said he had been in the second floor apartment at 15 College Road watching the Patriots game with his friend, Nick Janas, who lives there, and another friend, according to a video interview posted online. College Road is near Mast Road in Pinardville.

Coletti said a woman named Courtney, a former girlfriend of Janas, dropped by and the two went outside to talk, according to the Union Leader. After breaking up, the two have remained friends, according to a friend of Zack Janas, who lived in the 15 College Road home with his brother Nick.

Courtney’s boyfriend was a man named “Sean,” the friend added. The friend did not know his last name. The friend, who declined to give his own name, said the two brothers shared the 15 College Road Home, which their family owns. He said Zack Janas lived downstairs while his younger brother Nick lived on the second floor. Nick works with his father as a plumber, according to the friend.

Police were called at 1:49 a.m. Tuesday morning about shots being fired on College Road. Between five and seven shots were fired, according to Chief Pat Sullivan. Several neighbors, however, said they were not aware of the situation until police arrived on the scene. One who lived across the street said all he heard was cars speeding up the street around 3:30 in the morning. He asked not to be identified by name.

Police have asked anyone with information on the incident to call them at 497-4858.

Nick Janas and his younger brother Logan previously were the victims as well as alleged participants in a well-publicized violent crime in Goffstown. Both were stabbed in a riot which took place near Mountain Base Road in August 2006. Nick, who at the time was 21, and Logan, then 18, each was charged with rioting. At the time, court records show the two lived at 602 Black Brook Road.

In the altercation, Logan was stabbed several times and also run over by a car. A third person suffered cuts and bruises and his car was damaged. The fight was between two groups, one from Goffstown, the other from Manchester, according to news reports at the time.

In addition to the Janas brothers, a Hillsborough County grand jury in September 2006 indicted nine other young adults from Goffstown, Manchester and Dunbarton, on two felony counts of rioting. One of them also was charged with second degree assault in the stabbing of Logan Janas. Two to three juveniles were also involved in the incident, but authorities have not said whether they also were charged. A Hillsborough County attorney handling the case could not be reached for comment.
