A performance from a local martial arts academy proved to be a highlight at the 30th annual Merri-Loo Community Preschool Family Fun Day on Saturday, March 31.
In a combination of agile martial arts maneuvers and flag-waving patriotism, 11 members of the Mark J. Lawrence Martial Arts Academy Demonstration Team offered a 20-minute extravaganza in the gymnasium of Maple Avenue Elementary School during the family fun day.
Choreographed by Master Mark Lawrence to songs including “Shout” and “God Bless the U.S.A.,” the routine showcased the talents of all the team members, ages 5 to 16.
A total of 19 vendors purchased booth space at the event, which along with a silent auction, face and fingernail painting and children’s games provided for a lively atmosphere.
The event raised approximately $3,000 this year, said school director Lorraine Cottle.
Merri-Loo celebrates its 40th anniversary on Halloween of this year.
The school has operated 39 of those years at the Grasmere Town Hall building on Goffstown Back Road.
