NICHOLAS BROWN Supporters of Epsom’s fired road agent, Gordon Ellis, showed up at the latest selectmen’s meeting sporting bright yellow and orange sweatshirts emblazoned with the words, “Bring Gordon Back Now: Not in 2007.”
The front of the shirts, worn by at about 12 people at the Monday, Dec. 11, meeting, read, “Gordon Supporters.”
Ellis was fired in October after selectmen said he repeatedly failed to fulfill the duties of the full-time, elected position. Selectmen didn’t allow any public comment during the recent meeting, after a meeting a week before in which they were bombarded by questions related to Ellis’ firing.
Selectmen’s chairman Joni Kitson read a letter to the crowd saying the board weren’t going to address Ellis’ appeal of his firing at the meeting because of “extenuating circumstances,” according to several residents. Only four of the five board members were present.
After selectmen adjourned the meeting, several residents yelled out questions to selectmen, while others more quietly called them names. One resident called out for others to “remember to vote” next year.
