The state of New Hampshire requires every dog over the age of 4 months to be licensed with the town clerk in the town in which the dog is kept (RSA 466:1). Licenses are effective from May 1 of each year to April 30 of the subsequent year.
If you would like to renew an existing license or obtain a license for a newly-acquired dog by mail, include an up-to-date rabies certificate, a self-addressed stamped return envelope and a check for the correct fee:
• Male/female – $9
• Neutered/spayed – $6.50 (certificate required if not indicated on rabies certificate)
• Puppy age 4 to 7 months – $6.50 (proof of age required)
Late fees will be assessed at $1 per month beginning June 1 (RSA 466:7) as well as a civil forfeiture of $25 for failure to comply with licensing requirements (RSA 466:13).
If you have any questions, contact Town Clerk Linda Peters at 774-3547, ext. 107 or e-mail townclerk@dunbartonnh.org.
