Charity event raises more than $25,000

On April 12 more than 200 supporters of the Concord Family YMCA attended the YMCA’s third annual Spring Charitable Event to support the YMCA Kids Campaign scholarship fund.

This was a sold-out event where the guests enjoyed more than 40 varieties of wines sponsored by Shaw’s Fort Eddy and Horizon Beverage; a bountiful array of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres with a Mediterranean flavor prepared and served by John Hanna of the Washington Street Cafe; and an evening of high bidding for more than 49 items and packages.

The event raised more than $25,000 for the Kids Campaign, in part due to the support of Cleveland, Waters and Bass who underwrote the event; the financial contributions by 17 sponsors; donated use of space by Franklin Pierce Law Center; and the contribution of auction items and in kind services by more than 70 local businesses.

Each spring, the Concord Family YMCA launches its annual fundraising drive, The Kids Campaign, with a spring social event. This event’s committee Chairman Maryann Moonigan, along with volunteers Cindy Carter, Fran Canning, Holly Manning, Eileen Moore, Kaoru Saito, Teresa Schilling and Deb Wyman, thank guests who attended and supported this event.

The Kids Campaign is a scholarship fund, which provides financial assistance to YMCA kids and families. Each year, 40 percent of the children in the YMCA child care, after school “KYDstop,” and summer day camp receive financial assistance through this scholarship fund. The Kids Campaign runs from April to June with a goal this year to raise $200,000.
