Joshua Andrew was chosen as the first-place winner of the Bow Rotary Club’s annual 4-Way Test Speech Contest, which took place April 12, at White Rock Senior Living Community in Bow.
Andrew, a home-schooled ninth-grader from Bow, gave a speech on leadership. In his speech, he reflected upon his personal growth as a leader. The speech highlighted his research on the character traits of exemplary leaders with a focus on the trait of service to others.
Megan Perkins, a sophomore at Bow High School, was chosen as the second-place winner of the contest.
Drawing upon her experiences as a boarding school student in Mussoorie, India, Perkins gave a speech on the lack of educational opportunities for disadvantaged children in India. Her speech described efforts to give the children of the former lower castes a chance to enter the education system.
