Manchester Country Club hosted its 32nd Raffle the Pro Tournament on July 22.
The tournament began in 1977 by then head professional Stan Lencki and longtime member Claire Gryzwacz as a competitive club event bringing together members who would not normally play together. It was named “Raffle the Pro” because teams include a lowhandicap male as the pro and three female players selected by raffle.
In 2002, the tournament was named the Stan Lencki Memorial Tournament to honor its co-founder.
Each player plays his or her own ball, with handicaps used to determine the low net score each hole.
The winner of this year’s event was the team of Ron Allard, Barbara Garry, Mary- Ann Lajeunesse and Irene Buhl with a net score of 55.
Second with a net score of 59 were Mark Kinnecut, Diane Spiewak, Carolyn Yanagi and Diane Aubrey, with third place going to Alan Patee, Darlene Simmons, Mary Johnson and Nancy Tibbetts, who combined for a 61.
