The staff and volunteers at the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire hosted the League’s annual Kitten Shower on Saturday, July 25.
Visitors spoke with the League’s foster families, met kittens of all ages, learned about kitten development and behavior, enjoyed the volunteer-run bake sale and checked out the great raffle items. Some even adopted kittens.
Each shower participant received a favor and in return for bringing a “shower gift” for the furry felines.
By mid-afternoon, 25 kittens found new families with many others still “interviewing” perspective families.
“We started the day with about 40 kittens and many adult cats and dogs available,” said Danielle Hebert of the Animal Rescue League. “The economic conditions have increased the number of people that have had to give up their pets.”
The adoption cycle for cats is very short; most often the same day. Dogs take a day or two to allow families to be confident they are making the right decision. There are adoption fees that help pay for the spaying or neutering, medical exams and vaccines.
