Bedford Girls Softball League round-up

In recent Bedford Girls Softball League playoff action:
12U division The Bedford Blizzard beat the Hollis Bluebirds in the first round of the postseason, 9-7. Abby Guimont collected multiple strikeouts from the circle, and Delaney Guimont provided strong defense as catcher. Kylie Pigeon and Sarah Belhumeur each scored twice.

The Blizzard then dropped a 10-7 decision to the Milford Thunder, the No. 1-seeded team, in the second round. Alexis Meservey, Jona Glynn, Kylie Pigeon, Nicole Schena, Gabrielle Scudder and Jessica O’Neil played strong defense. Delaney Guimont, Glynn, Belhumeur, Abby Guimont and Emilia Degler led the team’s late-game offensive charge, but it wasn’t enough.

The Bedford Storm defeated the higher-seeded Brookline Wahoos, 13-10. Amanda Soterion and Olivia Hammond led the offense with run-producing hits. Micaela Healy added two singles and a double with a run scored, and Sara Ferranti doubled and stole home to score what proved to be the game-winning run. Madison Collins fanned five batters as the starting pitcher before Ferranti closed the game. Jess Lavine at second base, Ashley Allard at shortstop and first basemen Lily Condylis and Kayleigh Bohan led a strong defensive effort.

The Storm dropped their second playoff game, 10-8, to the Wilton Panthers. Condylis was again solid defensively at first base. Healy’s two base hits generated three runs, and Erin Farrelly and Soterion each doubled. Collins struck out six while handling pitching chores and combined with Soterion for an out at home.

14U division
The Bedford Freeze upset Milford in the opening round of the playoffs, cruising to a 14- 5 win. Ali Durkin went 3-for-4 with five RBI and three stolen bases to lead the offense. Marissa Hansen, Jess Graff and Laska Nordaby added to the relentless attack. On defense, Molly Patten was flawless at shortstop, and Gabby Bolduc, Meg Ellis and Shae Eldridge also played well in the field. Sami Mednikoff went the distance on the mound, baffling Milford hitters all night.
