A number of local athletes led Manchester West on Saturday, May 23, at Memorial High School, host site of the Manchester City Track and Field Meet.
For the girls, Kimi Joback of Bedford scored in the three throwing events, taking second in javelin, third in shot put and fourth in discus.
Bedford’s Carissa Iannone finished third in the javelin, and Linsey Kerovac of Bedford finished in a three-way tie for third in the high jump.
On the track, Bedford’s Kelsey Hunt raced to third in the 800- and 1,600-meter runs. Jess Royal of Bedford finished fourth in the 800, and Hooksett’s Claire Penney ran to sixth in the 400.
Other area athletes competing for the girls were Chelsey Krol of Bedford, Amanda Grebloski of Hooksett, Kim Delaney of Bedford and Samantha DeMello of Bedford; each finished the 800. Krol also cleared 6 feet in the pole vault.
Stephanie Boucher, Abby Johnson of Hooksett, Penney, Ashley Abbott, Iannone and Meaghan Elrick joined Joback in the shot put, while Johnson, Abbott, Iannone and Boucher also threw the discus. Johnson, Boucher, Kerovac, Penney, Abbott and Elrick all competed in the javelin.
Scott Jones of Bedford was the top finisher among West boys, placing second in the 3,200, shattering his personal-best time with a 10- minute, 6.49-second effort.
Justin Wise took fourth in the 1,600 with a personal best time of 4:54.41. Anthony Viola sprinted to fifth in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
Other locals competing for the boys were Sam Hogan in the 400 and javelin and fellow Bedford resident Drew Blake in the 800.
