In recent Bedford Girls Softball League action:
12U division
The Bedford Storm 12U majors team lost its first game of the season to the Wilton Panthers, 12-4. Madison Collins pitched four strong innings with the help of her catcher, Amanda Soterion. On defense, Kayleigh Bohan completed an unassisted double play, and Olivia Hammond’s debut in the majors included solid play at shortstop.
The Bedford Hurricanes won their season opener against the Milford Lightning, 18-11. Bedford’s Mackenzie Fraitzl fanned seven in five innings in the circle. Emerson Desmarais, Kathleen Gorham, Emily Sabean and Samantha Hammond delivered three hits each, with every Hurricane player scoring at least one run. Molly Muir’s fourth-inning hit gave Bedford the lead.
14U division
The 14U Bedford Freeze earned a 17-12 comeback win on the road against Amherst. Paced by ace pitcher Alyssa Lemire, Bedford rallied after a slow start behind the hot bats of Laska Nordaby, Ali Durkin, Hannah Dukerschein, Alyssa Lemire and Shae Eldridge. Gaby Bolduc blasted a two-run home run to highlight a gamebreaking seven-run fourth inning. Defensively, Durkin played well behind the plate, while Dukerschein, Eldridge and Nordaby also turned in strong efforts in the field.
10U division
Maps To Treasure edged New Hampshire Endodontics, 3-2. Annie Sasso pitched well for Endo, allowing one run, while Lauren Johnson also pitched well in relief. Mady Buffett and Annie Sasson scored Endo’s runs. Mollie Redman and Emma Wallat led the MTT offense, while Paige Wallat singled to key the game-winning rally, then pitched a scoreless inning to secure the win.
Brainium, in its season opener, also nipped New Hampshire Endodontics, 5-4, with a two-out, last-inning rally. Smyrna Clark’s two-run single with the bases loaded tied the game, and Briana Gilman then delivered a gamewinning single. Endo collected 13 hits in defeat, led by Maddy Buffett, Lauren Johnson, Annie Sasso and Olivia Coco. Melanie Groff’s fine fielding at shortstop kept Endo in the contest.
Barataria Productions and Maps To Treasure played to a 3-3 tie. Barataria pitcher Brittany Dunn worked consistently to keep the game close, and Isabelle Wheeler delivered a double to help put her team on the board. Sam Wallis’ hit late in the game pulled the team into a tie. MTT first baseman Corey LaBelle played fine defense with two key plays in the third inning. Molly Redman, Delaney Flanagan and Hannah Parnell led the seven-hit offense. Kasey Gamache pitched well in the final inning to preserve the tie.
