The 35th running of the Bedford Rotary Memorial Road Races is set for Saturday, May 16, with a USATF New England Championship 12K race at 9 a.m. and the 5K race at 11 a.m.
For the sixth time, the 12K race is a USATF championship race, one of seven for the year. Prize money will be awarded to top individuals and USATF teams.
The family-oriented 5K race includes prize money to top individuals and trophies for any team, with at least one female, scoring among the first four finishers.
The 5K race also has a family discount for early registrants; the minimum family size is three.
Both certified courses start and end at the new Bedford High School and weave through picturesque residential neighborhoods, with water stations every mile. The finish line is Olympic-style inside the BHS stadium.
Awards are given to all top age-group runners, and every runner receives a colorful patriotic designer T-shirt. A post-race feast is included.
Any group with a charitable cause can run as a team, with each runner collecting pledges. For details, e-mail one of the race directors, Bill Gere, Brian Moyer and Darrell Gwinn, at BRMRRaces@gmail.com.
