The Bedford Basketball League’s 16th annual Bedford Basketball Jamboree, which took place Nov. 15 to 23, featured 67 teams and more than 700 players from 21 towns.
Age-based tournaments for third- to eighth-grade boys and girls included squads from Londonderry, Merrimack, Amherst, Pelham, Derry, New Boston, Auburn, Brookline, Jaffrey- Rindge, Concord, Londonderry, Windham, Nashua, Litchfield, Hollis, Hampton, Rye and Manchester, as well as Bedford.
Traditionally the first major tournament of the season, the jamboree attracts hoopsters from across the region, and the tournament chairman, John Allen, said this year’s edition set milestones in attendance, geographic distribution of teams and the level of competitiveness. Allen added that Bedford rose to the challenge on the court.
“Our players, teams and coaches have always been top notch in this event,” he said. “And this year was no exception.”
Bedford won four divisions, and two other town teams reached the finals.
