News and Information for the Town of Bedford

Time to file

A number of town and school positions are up for grabs in the March 11 election.

Those interested in serving the town or the School District must file for office from Wednesday, Jan. 23, to Friday, Feb. 1. Open seats and filing information include the following:

Town
Two Town Council positions for a term of three years each. Town Clerk for a term of three years.

Town Moderator for a term of two years.

Two seats are open for supervisor of the checklist – one for a term of six years, and the other for a four-year term.

One library trustee for a term of three years and one trustee of the trust funds for three years.

Currently the above open seats are held by Bill Jean and Kevin Keyes on the Town Council; Town Clerk: Wanda Jenkins; Town Moderator: Eugene Van Loan; Supervisor(s) of the Checklist: Bonita Diamond and Joan McMahon; Library Trustee: Anthony Frederick; Trustee of the Trust Funds: Ryk Bullock.

Residents and incumbents interested in filing for town positions must file a Declaration of Candidacy in person with Bedford Town Clerk Wanda Jenkins at Town Offices, 24 N. Amherst Road. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office will be open until 5 p.m. on Feb. 1.

At the time of filing candidates must be willing to pay a $1 filing fee unless the office he/she seeks offers no salary or other compensation.

School district
On the school side, two School Board positions will be available for three-year terms each. These seat are currently held by Sue Thomas and Steve Beals.

Residents and incumbents interested in school positions must contact Bedford School District Clerk Lori Radke at 471- 1993.

Radke will also be available at 50 McAffee Farm Road in Bedford until 5 p.m. on the last day of filing, Feb. 1.

There is a $1 filing fee for all paid positions.

Elections will take place on Tuesday, March 11, at Bedford High School from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
