Bedford residents who have been looking forward to having a village common with a skating pond might soon get their wish.
On June 4, the Planning Board will review the initial site plan for some of the 9.3-acre proposed public park, said Karen White, town planning director.
For now, the eastern side of the park -- from the Mobil gas station to Meetinghouse Road -- will remain as is.
But the plan for the western side, on Route 101 and north along Bell Hill Road, will be presented to planners.
In the design proposal are a network of 6-foot-wide gravel paths, a skating pond, trees to be planted along the trails and a one-story skate house.
“They’ve proposed some additional parking off of Bell Hill Road -- 27 spaces,” said White, adding the gravel parking lot might eventually connect to the adjacent library parking lot.
Along Bell Hill Road, there will be approximately 480 feet of park.
On Route 101, a small wooden fence is proposed for between Mobil and Bell Hill Road, White said.
The Planning Board is scheduled for Monday, June 4, at 7 p.m., at the Bedford Meeting Room, BCTV Studio, 10 Meetinghouse Road.
