Three daytime burglaries, including two at the same house on Meetinghouse Road, have taken place in Bedford recently.
On Tuesday, Jan. 16, and Thursday, Jan. 18, the same house was burglarized. The Meetinghouse Road home showed signs of forced entry both times, said Bedford police Detective Matt Fleming.
“It’s not very common that you will see a burglary where someone will hit a house and then hit the same house again,” he said.
On Sunday, Jan. 14, a home on Johnson Street was also burglarized.
Burglars took electronics from each home, and jewelry from the Johnson Street home. The homes are not in the same neighborhood, but police have not determined if they are related, Fleming said.
“It’s hard to tell at this point, and we are taking a close look at that,” he said.
Fleming said officers are increasing patrols in the neighborhoods and residents are being asked to contact police with any suspicious behavior.
“These people who commit daytime burglaries are very tricky in that they don’t always pull up with a suspicious vehicle,” he said.
Residents should not enter their home if it appears a burglary has occurred, Fleming said. If the burglar is present, it could be dangerous. Also, it is a crime scene and residents might disturb clues.
Bedford police are in contact with Manchester police since there has also been a rise in similar burglaries in the Queen City.
