Manchester police arrested a woman who allegedly filed a false police report about being raped in Bedford on Nov. 25.
Manchester police arrested a woman who allegedly filed a false police report about being raped in Bedford on Nov. 25.
Peggy Dodd, 27, of Manchester, was arrested Nov. 30 and transferred to Bedford Police Department, said Bedford police Detective Matthew Fleming.
Dodd, an employee at Harborside Healthcare, was arrested on charges of filing a false report to law enforcement and falsifying physical evidence, Fleming said.
Falsifying evidence is a felony charge.
On Saturday, Nov. 25, police responded to Harborside Healthcare on Colby Court in Bedford, where Dodd reported that an unidentified male had approached her from behind and raped her in her car, Fleming said. As a result, police increased patrols in the area.
Fleming declined to go into detail, but said some discoveries during the investigation led police to think Dodd’s report might have been false.
“During the course of this investigation, myself and two other officers from the department immediately noticed that things weren’t adding up,” Fleming said.
Fleming said he couldn’t release what evidence Dodd is charged with falsifying. He said the charge can result from either altering evidence or submitting evidence known to be false.
Dodd posted $2,000 bail and was released on personal recognizance. She will be arraigned on both charges in Merrimack District Court on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 8 a.m.
